In a surprise update from Niantic, Pokémon Go has changed up the available in-game raids you can tackle This is the first time the raid battles have been altered since the game’s debut.
There are some pretty unique choices on the docket this time around. Raid times have been shortened from an hour to 45 minutes after the raid egg in question has finally hatched. Some Pokémon we haven’t seen much of in a while are making appearances, with Golem as a Tier 4 raid, Porygon available for Tier 3 or solo. They aren’t exactly the Pokémon that could have been predicted, but we’ll take it. There’s a decent mix of both new and old available now, which make raid battles in general a much more lucrative mechanic to take part in.
Other Pokémon like first-generation starters have been worked into Tier 1, with Ivysaur, Charmeleon, and Wartortle joining the fold in addition to, bizarrely, Metapod. There’s a truly interesting spread of Pokémon here, to be sure. The Legendary Dogs are still available across all regions as well, ranking at Tier 5, so if you haven’t yet caught the Legendary Pokémon in your area, you’ll want to hurry and do so before the promotion ends.

Pokémon Go fans have had a decent amount of new content pop up in the last few months, and this surprise raid battle rotation is no exception. Hopefully Niantic will keep up at this pace, so the game will receive additional updates on the regular going forward. That would certainly go a long way when it comes to keeping fans happy.
