Today, Sony released a major firmware for PlayStation 4. It updated the console to v2.0 and added numerous important fan-requested features such as “Share Play, Pause Download, USB Music Player, Themes” and many more things.
In addition to all this, PlayStation 4 firmware 2.0 also added “Rest Mode” (in fact its the same old StandBy Mode), and according to reports coming out from Reddit and PlayStation forums, the mode appears to be bugged. Players are reporting that they are unable to wake PlayStation 4 from Rest Mode.
The worst part is that players are forced to Unplug the Power Cord to turn the system ON. Now, this Unplugging the PS4 can corrupt the hard drive and cause player more issues than they want.
The “Unable to Wake from Rest Mode” is a widespread issue, you can read ton of complaint from PlayStation 4 owners on this Reddit Thread.
Sony has acknowledged the issue via Twitter and advise players to “Boot PS4 in Safe Mode and Restore Default Setting and Rebuild Database”. Read instruction below to perform the fix:
“Hold your finger over the power button until you hear 2 beeps (~10 second). Plug your PS4 controller and select choice 5, to rebuild the database. You’re welcome!”
