It looks like our early report about two different new PlayStation models on their way is true, at least if The Wall Street Journal’s tech reporter Takashi Mochizuki is to be believed. This new model is going to be showcased at Tokyo Game Show in September, according to “Sony analyst” talked about by Mochizuki in a recent tweet.
“Sony analyst says PlayStation 4 Slim, not just Neo, due by Tokyo Game Show in Sept, report with @YukaKoshino”, WSJ reporter said in his tweet.
As we told you before, this isn’t the first time two different PlayStation Neo models are discussed. Earlier this month, thanks to our sources, we reported about Sony building two new PlayStation 4 models, one less powerful than the other (the latter with a GPU capable of up to 5.5 teraflops). So it really looks like there’s a PlayStation 4 Slim model to compete with Xbox One S, which was just announced by Microsoft at E3 2016.
In a previous statement, SIE CEO and President Andrew House said the new PlayStation Neo model wasn’t going to be introduced at E3 2016 in order not to confuse consumers about the upcoming hardware, involving PlayStation VR this October.
