The next big release in video games industry is PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds for Xbox One. It will be available worldwide on Xbox One on December 12 under “Xbox Game Preview”. There is not much of a detail available right now as far as technical specification of PUBG is concerned, but Brendan Greene in a recent interview with our friend at GamesTM Magazine shared the information about the FPS at which the game is going to run on Xbox One and Xbox One X.
Brendan Greene told GamesTM that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will run at 60FPS on Xbox One X. However, nothing is sure about the Xbox One version – the development team is still working on it and the last time Brendan checked the playable build on Xbox One, it was running between 30FPS to 40FPS. He further added that the development team may have to limit the FPS to 30 on Xbox One.
The one thing that caught my attention was the statement from Brendan where he stated that they still aim to get PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds run at 60FPS on Xbox One, and that’s why we have kept the game under Xbox Preview Program. This means there is still a possibility of PUBG running at 60FPS on Xbox One, but fans will have to wait a bit more – this is surely nothing going to happen at launch.
You guys can read the full statement of Brendan below.
“Definitely on Xbox One X, 60FPS. On Xbox One, we’re not sure. We may have to limit it at 30FPS, maybe, but the last time I saw it, it was running at about 30 to 40. We’re still constantly improving it so, you know, the aim is to get to 60. That’s why we’re doing Game Preview because I think the great thing about the console is it’s a locked hardware system, so we can do really specific tweaks that tune it for those systems.
I have great faith that we’ll get there. The great thing about Battlegrounds is that it’s not…unlike the more high paced shooters, the frame rate isn’t that important. Yes, it is important, but it’s not as important for us as it is a twitch shooter. So we’re aiming for 60; not sure if we’ll get there, but that is our aim.”
Lastly, Brendan has clarified that for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds won’t have that proper 4K textures support on Xbox One X. He clearly stated that 4K textures for PUBG still don’t exist, the work that is needed to be done to get it is pretty massive and it is going to take a lot of time. So fans should keep their hope in check as far as 4K textures for PUBG on Xbox One X and PC.
“We want to get those 4K textures in there, but we still have to make them. They don’t exist yet, you know our terrain artist he’s like ‘4K textures? Fuck’ cause it’s a lot of work. The amount of detail that has to go into 4K textures is immense, and it’s going to take us some time to get them, but we do have a plan.”
