Red Dead Redemption 2’s release date potentially leaked by Danish retailer

It looks like Red Dead Redemption 2 could be even closer than we previously thought.

A potential release date appeared on Danish storefront Coolshop’s website. This stated that the game could be hitting store shelves on June 8, 2018, according to a screenshot of the listing, which has of course since been removed.

Previously, Coolshop leaked an early Grand Theft Auto V release date, which ended up turning out to be correct. Given that Rockstar had previously noted an official release for Red Dead Redemption 2 of spring 2018, this makes sense—however, June is usually classed as being a summer month rather than a spring month.

If the June 8 Red Dead Redemption 2 release date does prove to be correct, we’ve got one huge summer to look forward to, as this is a hotly-anticipated game in the eyes of most Rockstar fans. As always, it’s important to take this revelation with a grain of salt, as leaks like these aren’t to be taken as gospel until Rockstar Games makes an official announcement. It could always be a placeholder date, after all.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel to 2010’s Red Dead Redemption and will follow the outlaw Arthur Morgan, a part of the Van der Linde gang. We don’t currently know very much about what the game will entail, but at this point any additional entry in the series is exciting for those looking to see the story continue.

It’s up in the air whether the original game’s John Marston may make an appearance or not, but knowing Rockstar, there’s probably more than just a shadow of a possibility that some cameos could occur. We’ll have to wait until 2018 to see, regardless.
