Niantic announced that starting today at 1:00 p.m. PST the festive Santa Hat Pikachu will be coming back to Pokémon GO. Along with bringing back this holiday favorite, we will also see more Ice and Water type Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn region. These Gen 3 Pokémon will be a welcome addition to what we already have.
Also starting today, you will be able to purchase special boxes from the in-game shop. These special boxes include items such as Super Incubators, Lure Modules, and the all new Star Pieces, which let you earn more Stardust for 30 minutes when activated. These special boxes will disappear on December 25 at 1:00 p.m. If you miss out on those special boxes, don’t worry, because after those ones leave, you will be able to purchase a different type of special box. Those variants will include items such as Premium Raid Passes, Super Incubators, and Star Pieces. You will be able to purchase those special boxes until January 4, 2018.
As an added bonus, the first PokéStop you visit between December 22 at 1:00 p.m. PST and December 25 at 1:00 p.m. PST will grant a single use Egg Incubator with your first spin of the day.
Niantic is really pulling out all the stops this holiday season with this event. The only thing missing is the Gen 2 Pokémon Delibird and we can only hope that Niantic is saving it as a surprise. For those unfamiliar with Delibird, it is an Ice and Flying type Pokémon that is known to give out presents. Hopefully we will see Delibird in the game soon. Until then, get out there and add these new Ice and Water type Pokémon to your Pokédex.
