Skyfront VR Promises Nausea-Free Zero-G Multiplayer
Levity Play has announced thats its multiplayer first-person shooter, Skyfront VR, will release on Steam Early Access on November 10, 2017. Levity is marketing Skyfront VR as the first Zero-G Multiplayer shooter in virtual reality that won’t make you sick in actual reality. A noble endeavor!
No Need to Bring Barf Bags
Having personally just taken the step into the world of VR, I purchased an Oculus Rift over the weekend, I can say with first-hand experience that nausea can be a part of virtual reality. The combination of fast-moving controls, especially in a Zero-G environment, will definitely impact most gamers’ stomachs.
Levity Play plans to address these concerns in the following way:
Skyfront VR boasts unique locomotion mechanics that help to centre players and provide them with a more comfortable gameplay experience. Movement is handled by moving one’s hands, translating to 1:1 movement in this virtual, zero-gravity space. By forcing players to consciously guide their in-game movements with their physical body, this eliminates the sensory conflict that often occurs when movement is dictated by a joystick.
TL;DR Games has put in a request for an early look at Skyfront VR and we’re hoping to fill you on whether or not these mechanics hold true to their intent.
Features
Apart from a barf-free experience, Skyfront VR will aim to include the following features during its early access period, with more to follow in the full game:
- A fully functioning online multiplayer setting
- 2 zero-gravity battle arenas
- 2 game types – Deathmatch & Team Deathmatch
- 5 different weapons + 1 Locomotion Device
- 5 special abilities for strategic use
- Bot Shootout
