Boost Mode for PlayStation 4 Pro is the most talked about feature of PlayStation 4 Firmware 4.50. According to the details revealed by Sony, this new mode added to PS4 Pro improves FPS performance of older games which don’t have PlayStation 4 Pro patch.
A representative of Sony has shared some additional new details about Boost Mode in a recent interview with our friend at GameSpot. Firstly, the representative hinted that the benefits of Boost Mode will extend beyond improved frame-rates.
In a statement issued to the publication, the representative said: “Boost Mode lets PS4 Pro run at a higher GPU and CPU clock speed for smoother gameplay on some PS4 games that were released before the launch of PS4 Pro (and has not been updated to support PS4 Pro).”
It was also revealed by the representative that although the Boost Mode for PlayStation 4 Pro was added into the beta of Firmware 4.50, there is no official confirmation yet that it will be available in the final release of firmware 4.50. In short, Boost Mode availability in official Firmware 4.50 release is “still under consideration”.
Firmware 4.50 is still in closed beta testing phase. There is no final release date announce yet. The initial report from Neogaf user confirms that there is a considerable FPS performance improvement in older games while running them in Boost Mode on PS4 Pro.
