Spencer Again Hints Xbox Scorpio Price Will Have “Higher Price”, More Than Xbox One S

The suspense surrounding Xbox Scorpio price continues. Xbox Division Boss Phil Spencer has made it pretty clear that consumers should not expect the price to be on the lower side as Xbox Scorpio is a “Premium” device. On the other side, Analyst Michael Pachter in a recent interview stated that it would be a “Suicide” from Microsoft if Xbox Scorpio is priced more than $399. These wordings on Pachter has reached Phil Spencer and guess what Spencer has replied to it.

Spencer On Pachter's $399 Price For Xbox Scorpio

According to Phil Spencer, Xbox Scorpio is going to be more expensive than the Xbox One S and the reason behind it is that it is a high-end consumer product. Also, Spencer added that it is not the only product or the price point decision which will define the success of Microsoft in the gaming hardware business.

“Scorpio will be a premium console. It will cost more than S, obviously, this is how we are building it up. We have not announced the pricing yet, but want to make sure that the investment we are making in the product of Scorpio goes hand in hand with the requirement of high-end consumer and that means a higher price,” said Spencer, adding that “There is not a single product you see and say ‘this is the product that defines how you are doing in the market’. It really is the repertoire of all products with prices and when we think of Scorpio it is for a high-end consumer who demands the maximum of a console, and the console built to meet that demand.”

Xbox Scorpio will cost more than Xbox One S, what exactly does that mean? Xbox One S pricing starts from $299 (500GB variant), and it goes up as if you go for a higher storage variant (1TB and 2TB variant). So there is a possibility that Xbox Scorpio might also be available in the different variant (in terms of HDD Storage) and the base model could carry a price tag of $399? What do you guys think?
