Super Mario Run Dominates Google Play Store’s Downloads
Super Mario Run originally launched for Android devices on March 22, several months after the game debuted as an iOS exclusive in December 2016. At the time, most Super Mario fans were expecting the game to perform well on Android after it became a best-seller on the iOS store. And a new report from Google confirms that Super Mario Run is this year’s #1 most downloaded new title.
Super Mario Run topped the list with Bubble Witch 3 Saga from King coming in “closely behind” at second place, Google reports. Nintendo’s Super Mario Android debut also beat out CATS: Crash Arena Turbo Stars, which won Google’s Best Game of 2017 award. Here’s the full list of award-winning titles on the Google Play store.

No other Nintendo titles popped up in Google’s awards section, suggesting that both Fire Emblem Heroes and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp haven’t built up as much steam as some of this year’s other titles. But it’s safe to say Nintendo can dominate mobile app stores when it wants to. Super Mario Run is available now for both Android and iOS.
