  • PS3 firmware update 4.20 coming out on June 26, details revealed

    Sony has just announced that a new Playstation 3 firmware update v4.20 will be released tomorrow.

    Playstation 3It will carry fixes for number of issues, and will also add few new functionality which includes wireless stereo headset sidetone functionality, multiple save copy and more.

    - When the wireless stereo headset (CECHYA-0080) is connected, you can now adjust the sidetone level for microphone audio. Select [Sidetone] under (Settings) > (Accessory Settings) > [Audio Device Settings].
    --Off: Disable microphone audio from the headset
    --1-5: Enable microphone audio from the headset

    - You can now set the amount of time until the system automatically turns off. Under (Settings) > (Power Save Settings) > [System Auto-Off] you will be able amend the time for [Video/TV/Music/Photo] and for [Game/Other Features]:
    Video/TV/Music/Photo - After 1 Hour, After 2 Hours, After 3 Hours, After 4 Hours, After 5 Hours, Off
    Game/Other Features - After 1 Hour, After 2 Hours, After 3 Hours, After 4 Hours, After 5 Hours, Off
    --o If you enabled [System Auto-Off] in system software prior to version 4.20, the selected time will be set for both [Video/TV/Music/Photo] and [Game/Other Features].
    --o The default settings are [After 4 Hours] for [Video/TV/Music/Photo] and [After 1 Hour] for [Game/Other Features].

    - Under (Games) > (Saved Data Utility (PS3™), you can now select multiple saved data items, and then either delete or copy them as a group.
    --You cannot use [Copy Multiple] to select data that is copy-protected.
    --Some saved data cannot be copied.
    --The upper right corner of the screen displays:
    the number of saved data items that are selected
    the total number of saved data items
    the total file size of the saved data items that are selected

  • Sony releases PlayStation Vita Firmware 1.66

    Sony has just started rolling out new firmware update 1.66 for Playstation VITA. According to details revealed by Sony, this is a replacement firmware update after firmware update 1.65 was pull down yesterday due to some technical issues.

    PS VITAThe changelog for this new firmware update 1.66 remains the same, and its just a fully-working revision of 1.65 with no known problems.

    • [Notification Alert] setting added to Settings > [Sound & Display]
    • [After 10 Minutes] option added to Settings > [Power Save Settings]
    • An arrow icon is introduced to show when PS Vita finds new activities in LiveArea.
    • The Caps Lock icon in the On-Screen Keyboard can now be fixed to allow a continuous string of upper case text.
    • The [System Music] setting in Settings > [Sound & Display]
      now affects BGM in PS Store, near and Sign-Up screens as well as the
      Home menu.
    • When searching for location data, users now have the option to 'Retry' and 'Cancel' when a failure occurs.
    • A progress bar is introduced for application installation.
    • A direct link to PlayStation Store is made available for new applications that users may discover on near.
    • Users can now update data at any time within near, provided they are within the same location.
    • The display time of notification alerts has been reduced from 5 seconds to 3 seconds.
    • Functional improvements have been made in the following games and applications: Unit 13, Gravity Daze, near.
  • PS3 firmware update v4.11 coming out today

    On US PS Blog, Sony has announced that a new firmware update v4.11 for Playstation 3 will be released today. This new firmware v4.11 is an optional and minor.

    Playstation 3According to Sony, firmware v4.11 improves certain aspects of system software, and is not mandatory to connect to PSN. PS3 owners can download this update by selecting System Update from the Setting column of the XMB.

  • 3DS firmware update "2.1.0-4U" available now for download

    Nintendo has just released a new firmware update "2.1.0-4U" for their handheld console 3DS. The update is all for download for all 3DS owners.

    According to the details revealed, this new update doesn't add any signifcant functionality, 3DS owners must download and install this new update inorder to access features such as system transfers.

    Nintendo describe this new firmware update for 3DS as "further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience."

  • PS3 debug firmware update 3.66 leaked

    A debug firmware update v3.66 for Playstation 3 has been leaked online by a hacker named "Consoledev". However there is no need to panic, as this debug firmware update works only with Dev Unit, and not with the retail PS3 units.

    "No, this does not mean CFW, but this hopefully can be useful to devs in establishing the future of CFW. This firmware is only for developers, researchers and this will only work on TEST units"

    User running this debug firmware update on a retail PS3 will get an error before the installation is complete, "The data type is not supported. (8002F029)".

    Sony has released the new mandatory firmware update v3.66 for all Playstation 3 users. According to the details revealed by Eric Lempel of SCEA, this new firmware update for PS3 only stabilize its network, stability of the all PS3 games.


    PS3 owners can download the firmware 3.66 via System Update or simply go to the official PS website.

  • Nintendo 3DS firmware update 2.1.0-3U available for download

    Nintendo has released a new firmware update 2.1.0-3U for their handheld console 3DS. This new firmware update carries fix for all the issues introduced in the last update(firmware update 2.0.0-2U).

    If you currently have update version 2.0.0-2U, this update provides:

    • Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments to enhance user experience
    • A correction for the screen freeze symptom experienced in the Ridge Racer 3D game

    You can receive automatic updates when a wireless internet connection is available. When the download is complete, you will receive a dialog on the HOME Menu detailing the steps to install the update

    If you have not completed the update released on June 6, version 2.0.0-2U, this update will add the following new features:

    • Nintendo eShop
    • Internet Browser
    • Transfer functionality to move DSiWare™ from Nintendo DSi/Nintendo DSi XL systems to the Nintendo 3DS system
    • Automatic system updates
    • Improved stability and performance of the overall system
  • PS3 optional firmware v3.65 available for download

    Sony has just released an optional firmware update v3.65 for Playstation 3. This new firmware update is an optional one and improves the the operating stability of some PS3 format software, and changes the XMB item SaveData Utility (minis) to [SaveData Utility(minis/PSP)].


    To download the update all you need to do is select System Update from Setting Column of the XMB. Well i like to mention that this update is an optional one.

  • Nintendo 3DS firmware update 2.0.0-2U delayed?

    An annonymous source is reporting that the much awaited firmware update 2.0.0-2U for Nintendo 3DS which was schedule to launch on June 6 has been delayed until mid-July.

    According to the anonymous source, the reason for the delay is that a silght error in the firmware caused games to crash mid way.
