  • Kaz Hirai explains why PS4 console wasn't shown at Playstation Meeting 2013

    In a recent video interview to BBC, Sony boss Kaz Hirai unveiled the actual reason as to why PS4 console was not shown at Playstation Meeting 2013 on February 20, 2013.

    Kaz Hirai said, "I think that, you know, we still have a long ways to go before the actual product launch and there are going to be a lot of opportunities for us to talk about and provide additional details on the PlayStation 4"

    "It wasn’t actually a launch, we just talked about the console and there will be more information to come, but it keeps people guessing and that’s a good thing."

    He further went on to add that currenty his main objective is to turn around the fortunes of Sony.

    "The number one thing I need to continue to push on is to really share and convey the sense of urgency to turn the company around especially the electronics business."

  • Sony CEO suggests PS4 could launch after Xbox 720

    According to Sony CEO Kaz Hirai, next generation Playstation (PS4) might arrive of next Xbox (Xbox 720) just to have an advantage in the market.

    PS4 and Xbox 720There are numerous report on internet which claims that next-generation consoles will arrive from Sony and Microsoft will arrive around the same time. However, Kaz Hirai believes that Sony would apply wait and watch situation just to see what its competitors comes up with.

    In a recent interview to The Times, Kaz Hirai stated, "Why go first when your competitors can look at your specifications and come up with something better?"

    Few gaming industry personalities are of the opinion that Sony's move of giving a head start to Microsoft with respect to release on next-generation consoles may back-fire in the same way as it did when PS3 released full one year after Xbox 360.

  • Sony: No promotion of Kaz Hirai as President Yet

    This past week it was reported by Nikkei that Kaz Hirai will soon be promoted to the position of President of Sony. It was reported that this promotion of Kaz Hirai will happen in the month of April, 2012.

    Kaz HiraiHowever just a few hours ago Sony Board released a press statement via spokesperson Shiro Kambe and said that the decision has not yet made to promote Kaz Hirai as President, and the board is still considering all its decision.

  • Kaz Hirai: Anonymous not behind current PSN outage

    Yesterday at PSN news conference Sony’s deputy president Kaz Hirai confirmed that infamous hacker group "Anonymous" are not behind the current PSN outage.

    At a press conference a Japanese reported quizzed Hirai if there were any links between PSN outage and Anonymous, to this Hirai replied that the group known for targetting Sony was not at all responsible for current attack.

    In the past Anonymous also confirmed that they are not behind the current PSN outage issue faced by PS3 owners, this means that their planned attack on Sony is still on (Anonymous: Next attack against Sony as soon as PSN back online ).

  • Kaz Hirai Reveals details about PSP2

    PSP2 is almost confirmed or is it so? Kaz Hirai head honco Playstation has hinted some of the features and type of control interface for the much rumoured PSP2.

    In an interview to New York Times Kaz Hirai didn't speak directly about PSP2, but he however give out the details about the type of control that Sony thinks will suits best for handheld gaming in future.

    "Depending on the game, there are ones where you can play perfectly well with a touch panel," Further he added "But you can definitely play immersive games better with physical buttons and pads.

    "I think there could be games where you're able to use both in combination."

    A rear touch panel is one of the most talked about features rumored for PSP2.

    He also acknowledge the success of their counterparts Apple iOS devices but said that these devices appeals to different section of people and crowd.

    "The games being played on Android and Apple platforms are fundamentally different from the world of immersive games that Sony Computer Entertainment, and PlayStation, aims for."

  • Sony: "3D without glasses for portables does not have high precision"

    It is clear that 3D has opened a new dispute between the major companies in the world of videogames. And, as usual, Sony not stressed by having to mince words .

    Kaz Hirai, The head of the Japan company has made a new statement in which makes it very clear his views on the new three-dimensional technology .

    Kaz Hirai said that, “Based off internally conducted research, naked-eye 3D for portables does not have high precision, and at present there are limitations.”

    However, the executive made it clear that they had not yet seen Nintendo 3DS and therefore can not say anything about it and he was referring specifically to the new laptop rival.

    In addition, Hirai said that Sony's portable will not use this technology, and that they will focus on the compatibility between 3D and PlayStation 3.
