  • PS3 firmware 3.70 detailed, coming out later tonight

    SCEA on its official PS Blog has revealed a new firmware update v3.70 for the PS3. This new firmware update will launch later tonight, and will include enhancements for PlayStation Plus subscribers and 3D playback.

    PS3 owners can expect the following updates to be added to their console:

    Automatic Online Game Save Back Up

    • Similar to the Automatic Download offered to PlayStation Plus subscribers, players can now automatically save their Saved Data to the Cloud. At the time where the players start the game, a prompt will be asked whether they wish to enable the automatic online game save.

    Auto Trophy Sync

    • The trophies will now automatically sync at a time of the Auto Download feature is happening.

    Recommend Items

    • On the PlayStation Store, players can now recommend items they purchased.

    New Channels

    • Since the PS3 have Hulu Plus, Netflix, and VUDU Services, a dedicated channel will be available on the XMB.

    As for the 3D updates;

    • 3D support will now be available when accessing Java-based special features on Blu-Ray
    • DTS-HD MA, DTS-HD HR decoding/bit stream output (or lossless audio) will be supported while playing Blu-ray 3D movies.
    • 3D digital photos in MPO format can now be viewed in 3D on the XMB and in the Photo Gallery app.

     

  • Sony employee unveils cancelled PS3 games on LinkedIn

    Steve Johnson, the Sound Designer at SCEA's Santa Monica has revealed list of game titles for PS3 that was cancelled by Sony behind the closed doors. The list of game was revealed on Steve Johnson LinkedIn profile.

    Here is the list of PS3 game cancelled by Sony:

    • High Rise (cancelled) – PS3 – Sound Designer / Audio Lead
    • Hand of God (cancelled) – PS3 – Sound Designer / Audio Lead
    • Psynapse (cancelled) – PS3, PSP – Sound Designer / Audio Lead
    • Retriever (cancelled) – PSP – Motion Capture Dialog Recordist, additional sound design

    Steve Johnson profile also revealed that Santa Monica studio is working on an two unannounced PS3 projects:

    • (unannounced title) – PS3 – Sound Designer
    • (unannounced title) – PS3 – additional sound design

  • Playstation 3 achieves another milestone, sold 50 million units worldwide

    SCEA has revealed some sales figure details related to Playstation 3. According to the details, PS3 reached another milestone as it sold 50 million units worldwide (as of March 29).

    The latest released Playstation Move surpassed an 8 million units worldwide (as of April 3). These figure clearly shows the success of Playstation 3. Ever since the launch of PS3, more than 75 million PSN account has been created.

  • Andrew House: SCEE looking to sell Playstation Network titles at retail

    Good news for gamers in Europe, soon they will be able to buy Playstation Network games at actual retail shops. Currently SCEA has a similar program in working with GameStop across United States, however SCEE not yet implemented this in European shops.

    In an interview to MCV SCEE president Andrew House said, "We actually already have the same programme in place with GameStop in the US,"

    "We would like to work with the right retail partners in Europe under the right model, to undertake the same sort of activity."

  • Sony: Unlike Competitors, We Don't Rely On One Genre

    Peter Dille, senior vice president of marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment America, has declared  that company is not dependent on a single genre as one of its competitors:

    "We've never been reliant on one product genre like one of our competitors. [Sony has] titles ranging from Killzone to EyePet. PlayStation is a very big tent and ... it's helped us sell 377 million PlayStation hardware products and two billion software products in 15 years."

    Although his statement did not explicitly refers to Microsoft or Nintendo, it is not surprising that he was referring to the shooters on Xbox 360. As we all aware, the Christmas is near and the battle rages between Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.

  • Killzone 3 Dated For February 22nd in NA

    SCEA has reveal the release details for much awaited game title Killzone 3.

    TJ Consunji, Sony Product Marketing Manager announce on PS Blog that the game will be coming out on February 22 in North America. No details about when the game will be coming out in European.

  • LittleBigPlanet 2 Release and Collector Edition Detail

    Sony Computer Entertainment America today annouced the release detail for LittleBigPlanet 2 and they also reveal the collector edition of the game also.

    LittleBigPlanet 2 will be coming out in November 16 2010. The Collector Edition of the game will feature the following thing:

    • Copy of LittleBigPlanet 2
    • 7' Sackboy Plushie
    • LittleBigPlanet game ends
    • A massive bootload of pre-order DLC, including: Toy Story 3 Aliens costume, Tron: Legacy Clu costume, Muppets Great Gonzo costume, Ratchet costume, Clank costume, Even More Animals costumes: Crocodile, Vulture, Cobra, Mandrill
