  • FIFA 11 Tops Xbox Chart

    UK ELSPA/GfK Chart Track details are very much different what it was last week as many of the first person shooting game title saw a dip in their ranking.

    Halo: Reach moved one place down to 3rd spot but the shock in the list was disappearance of Call of Duty: Madern Warfare 2 from the Top Ten chart. The biggest gainer was FIFA 11 which replace F1 2010 to snatch the Top Spot.

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 becomes best-selling game in the UK history

    Beyond giving details of sales this week in the UK, the firm Chart Track has also been reported that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has become the best selling game in the history of UK.

    The title of Activision and Infinity Ward has achieved it in 41 weeks (about 10 months). Its time to see how far next installment Call of Duty: Black Ops goes, which is developed by Treyarch and will be released on coming November 9th.

  • Kane & Lynch 2 breaks into the top of the list of UK sales

    When things are done well, almost always get their just reward and that is what happened to Square Enix and IO Interactive with its recent Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, Which has been at the top of the charts in the United Kingdom, the largest market at European level.

    According to data provided by chart track, the versions have been sold in this order Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Also note that the original Kane & Lynch only managed to be in the position 14 in its debut back in 2007, and that this is the third title in Square Enix to reach this position this year, after Final Fantasy XIII and Just Cause 2.

    The rest of the Top 3 is completed by Toy Story 3: The Game and Red Dead Redemption surprising that maintains the rate three months after its release, and LEGO Harry Potter and Just Dance which occupies the fourth and fifth respectively.   • Hardware sales down by 32% in UK

    According to the Statics and data reveal by Chart-Track, ELSPA and ISFE, the hardware revenue has seen a huge downfall 32% in the first six month of current year. It came down from £378 million to £256 million as compared to the first six month time period in 2009.

    A downfall of 10% is calculated in Software Sale for the same time period, it came down from £592 million to £533 million. This data does not include the PC games, digital distribution program (Xbox Live or PSN) and second hand market.

    The total gross on hardware and software is £963 million, a downfall of 16% as compare to £1.143 billion in first six month in 2009.

    ELSPA director Michael Rawlinson said, “UK consumers are still facing economic uncertainty and everyone is looking to how they can make savings, which has naturally impacted on the entertainment industry as a whole,”

    “Consumers are increasingly downloading videogames from websites,” he said, “and are also increasingly playing games not only on consoles, but also on their mobiles or through social networking sites, such as Facebook.

    “This is proof that interactive entertainment is expanding way beyond its traditional boundaries.”
