Industry insider Unseen64 has just released a rush of videos and screenshots regarding a cancelled PSP The Elder Scrolls game called Travels: Oblivion. Videos have been thus far removed by request of Bethesda and Zenimax IP owner, and this looks like a further confirm of the true existence of the project.
This is Unseen64’s description of it:
“This is perhaps one of the biggest unreleased games for the PSP. The Elder Scrolls Travels: Oblivion. I know I was waiting for it to come out, then it never did. We never got footage. The rumor went that the budget just wasnt there, and with the PSP not exactly doing great in the US, the project was killed.
The short end of it is that the world wasn’t open world. It used a HUB world, which is one of the areas that you can see in the screenshots. But the idea was that you would be able to travel to different areas from Tamriel that were also seeing Oblivion gates pop up, even Daggerfall was rumored. You would have figured that it was awful. But it wasnt. It was really good. It looked good. And sure, it was early, but Ive played many worse canceled games, and few that were better.”
So it would have felt a little different than other The Elder Scrolls title, being not completely open world, but somehow adapted to the PSP platform. We think it would have been great and helpful to both the IP and the PlayStation Portable. Which is your opinion about this cancelled game? Let us know in the comments below.
