The Last Of Us Movie In “Development Hell”: Neil Druckmann

Sad news for those of you who were waiting for the announced The Last of Us movie to become reality – it looks like the script has been collecting the dust in the last few months, well, 18 months to be true. That’s what you call “development hell”, as creative director Neil Druckmann candidly admitted during a recent interview.

The Last of Us Movie

“I know I said in an interview a while back we had a table read, got the script to a good place and it kind of entered development hell like these things tend to do,” he explained. “There hasn’t been any work done on it in over a year and a half.”

Interestingly, Uncharted movie is getting a different destiny, as it is almost ready to show up at some point not so far.

“Every once in a while they’ll come in and they’ll present to us: here’s the script, here’s what we’re thinking. We’ll tell them what we think works, what we think doesn’t work,” Neil Druckmann added, detailing a kind of involvment from Naughty Dog which could be disappointing for fans who fear movie adaptions not to be up to their beloved video games’ quality.

“That’s where we’re at. Last I heard is they got a new screenwriter, but we haven’t seen anything in a while.”

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is releasing on May 10 for PS4.
