A lot was expected from Naughty Dog at The Last of Us: Part II PlayStation Experience 2017 Panel, but the developers kept most of the cards close to their chest. However, the panel was not that bad as Naughty Dog did confirm some interesting new details regarding The Last of Us: Part II. We also receive a hint from them that The Last of Us: Part II is going to release in 2019, and not in 2018 as expected by most of the PlayStation fans (please note – we used the term HINTED by the development team). Let’s get straight to the things that were revealed at TLOU: Part II Panel at PSX 2017.
Firstly, Naughty Dog revealed that a good part of The Last of Us: Part II takes place in Seattle. Secondly, Neil Druckmann stated that the development of almost 50-60% of the story is complete, and the game is currently in the hardest phase of the development because almost everyone at the studio is working on some of the other pieces of The Last of Us: Part II and all these pieces needs to come together properly and the end result should match the vision. Neil Druckmann also added that the game is “Big”.
The third topic that came up for discussion was the new characters that were showcased in The Last of Us: Part II Trailer #2 that was released at Paris Games Week 2017. The developer panel revealed that Yara and Lev from the second trailer are siblings, age 16 and 13 respectively, and they are involved in the cult of some sort.
Lastly, the host of the panel admitted that she has seen some part of The Last of Us: Part II gameplay and it has “blown her mind”. When enquired by the host – when the general public is going to get see it, Druckmann replied: at E3 2018. E3 2018 is the next place where we are going to see more of The Last of Us: Part II. This means it would be safe for us to say that the game is releasing in 2019 or later, also hinted by Gustavo just a few months ago.
These are only interesting details shared by Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann at The Last of Us: Part II PSX 2017 panel.
