Ubisoft Announces Trials of the Gods Events for AC Origins

Assassin’s Creed: Origins so packed so full of content that I’m struggling to get to a stage where I feel comfortable writing a review (it’s coming soon!) Ubisoft has now announced a new series of events entitled Trials of the Gods, which will pit Bayek against a variety of Egyptian deities on a weekly schedule.

Face the God of the Dead

The first event is starting right now and will run through November 14th. In it, Bayek will face off against Anubis, the Egyptian God of the Dead.

The Trials of the Gods will test every skill you’ve learned while surviving in Ancient Egypt. Brute strength alone won’t suffice – you’ll also need to apply your battle strategies on a scale larger than anything you’ve faced before.

Our first Trial is Anubis, the God of the Dead. With the head of a jackal, this ancient deity has sprung from a glitch in the Animus and is eager to guide Bayek’s soul to the afterlife, unless you defeat him.

You’ll find this battle with Anubis marked on the in-game map. Once you reach the location, a huge beam of light will indicate where the Animus glitch is active, and where your challenge awaits.

God-Tier Treasure

Each event will reward successful players with an exclusive piece of gear themed after the God you’ve defeated. While the event can be repeated multiple times, only one such item will drop per event. It looks as if Ubisoft is planning to make this a regular weekly event, stating that players will get a chance to a face a particular God again, should they miss an event.

After Anubis, there will be more Trials of the Gods on the horizon, so keep an eye on your in-game map for a sign of another Animus glitch.

Personally, I’m not a huge fan of all-out combat in Assassin’s Creed: Origins, but I’m ready to give this a try. The allure of God-level treasures is too much to resist.
