Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon could be giving its players an easier way to grind experience in the early stages of the game.
The usual method for leveling up a Pokémon to max level in previous installments of the series was to constantly face off against the Elite Four, the best Pokémon trainers in the game who field the strongest Pokémon teams.
Players would use the in-game item EXP Share, which allows all the Pokémon on a player’s team to receive a share of the total EXP points from battle. If a player is using a fully maxed-out Pokémon in each battle, then the EXP share between the other five party members is greater increased.
This new method, however, discovered by a Reddit user, takes advantage of one of Ultra Sun and Moon’s key features— SOS Chaining. SOS Chaining was used on the original Pokémon Sun and Moon. Using the method, a player has a wild Pokémon call for help, bringing in another Pokémon to help it.
Players can then constantly kill off these Pokémon to gain additional EXP. You can effectively chain forever until you kill off both Pokémon at the same time.
Trainers can use this SOS Chaining method in Poni Plains. Bushes there have a chance to spawn a Chansey or Blissey, a pair of Pokémon that give the player a ridiculous amount of EXP, and can continuously gain EXP off of them.
Ultra Sun and Moon releases for Nintendo 3DS on Nov. 17.
