Bethesda has just announced that gamers in Germany and Austria will receive a censored version of their upcoming first-person shooter title, Wolfenstein: The New Order.
Via their official blog, Bethesda explained that elements related to Nazi “whether its symbol or content” everything i forbidden in Germany and violation of those rule can result in penalty such as fine or three years in prison.
So, Bethesda and Machine Games have decided to release a different version of Wolfenstein: The New Order in Austria and Germany which will have no nazi content.
In addition to this, Bethesda revealed that PC version of the game will be Geo-locked so that imported copies of the game won’t work in these two countries.
Lastly, Bethesda assured its fans in Austria and Germany that censored content won’t affect overall quality of the game as compared to international version, “there are some legally required differences, the levels of violence and action remain the same as in the international version”
Wolfenstein: The New Order is scheduled to launch on May 20 for PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
