The next-gen console war has juat begun, both PS4 and Xbox One is schedule to arrive in November 2013. North American market has been a strong foothold of Microsoft and Xbox console.
Sony President Shuhei Yoshida is very much aware of this fact and so is not underestimating a strong competition from Microsoft and Xbox One (in North American Territory).
In a recent interview to 4Gamer, Yoshida made a couple of comments on the distribution of PS4 preorders and on the relationship with the competition at Microsoft.
Yoshida stated that in PS4 will arrive in North America market as a challengers against a very strong rival Microsoft and Xbox One.
“It’s a little hard to talk about specific numerical values, but the proportion is pretty much the same we had with the PS3. However, because of the large number of people in North America and the size of the market, I feel the market share there is a little low [compared to Europe].”
“I’m not saying that the PS4 is losing at the moment, but the Xbox 360 was very strong in North America. That’s why we’re working there with the mindset “we are the challengers”. I think that when you have a strong rival, it’s good for the market as a whole. We want to do our best so that we won’t be defeated (laughs).”
Its good to see that Sony boss acknowledging their weak point and are working really hard to turn the tide in their favour. PS4 will launch in North America on November 15, whereas Xbox One will arrive on November 22.
