The Sims 3: Pets Review for PS3

The Sims 3: Pets

The Sims 3: Pets is an extension for The Sims 3 title. It contains all the previous content of The Sims 3.  As we all know The Sims 3 has everything which makes it one of the most addictive game of today. If you haven't played any Sims title yet, then also The Sims 3: PETS can be consider as the title to start with. Infact it adds the more value to those who haven't played the Sims 3 yet.

Although i'm not a consistent player of Sims but i play it occasionally. I haven't played the PC and Xbox 360 version, so i won't be able to put the comparison but many people saying the PC version is the best one. Basically all platform versions have same concept but this is the review of The Sims 3: Pets for PS3.

Full Concept:

Players will have the opportunity to control the faithful animal characters and also new places and events are waiting for you as well. Lots of new breeds to train and discover, over 100 if you just consider cats and dogs. In The Sims 3: PETS you gets new town called Appaloosa Plains. User is allowed to have maximum 6 pets in their house which increases the sims limits form 8 to 10.

If you played the The Sims 3 before then you are very well aware of what it's all about, and from my point of view this one is not mainly made for old players of Sims 3. If you are regular player of Sims 3 then you'll find it boring because apart from the PETS part there is nothing much new to it.

For new players, just to clear the concept, you'll create your sim and you'll take control of it. You have various options to customize your sim as per your liking and needs.  You set their outfits or appearances, traits, goals, personality and everything  from their body shape to pitch of voice. Your created sim will be in virtual world with all real life needs, means they will need to eat, sleep, hunt job etc. That's makes this game so addicted since you get the ultimate control over everything happening in game to your created character.

Talking about PETS, We can customize pets in same ways as our sims.  Pet's behavior patterns and traits fully customizable as per our likings. Age slider for pets are also same as were introduced in The Sims 3: Generations. But you don't get the height sliders for Pets.

Customizing Sims and Pets are one thing, game also allows you to alter their surroundings as per your wish. But only if you have enough points to earn those surroundings. You can purchase various things for your sims house inventory and upgrade their houses.

Graphics:

You won't find the visual more interesting than the original Sims 3 released last year. There is nothing new in terms of visuals other than animal characters. And it doesn't means it's not good. Not new but good as old one. Decent interface with clear instructions as always The Sims offers.

Sound:

It's not noisy, very quite and decent game in terms of sound. There are no unnecessary sound effects, you'll hear nice voices of your pets. Funny actually, you'll smile when they will interact with their sweet voice with you. Some sound effects are unforgettable.

Gameplay:

It has a stable and clean gameplay. But you'll surly feel that too many load screens are coming in between and lot's of pauses in gameplay steps. The Sims 3: Pets includes the Mystery quests, short and interesting to solve. You'll find it fun to solve the Mystery quests.

The core gameplay of The Sims 3 is untouched in The Sims 3: PETS. You create your sims and handles their life cycle as i explained in concept part above.

Every kind of pets will have their own kind of tasks to learn. For example to your cats and dogs you can teach hunting, to horses you can teach them racing and jumping as well. Dogs can also make to learn to locate collectibles. You can take role of your pets and do plenty of enjoyable things.

Conclusion:

For new players, It's fun playing Sims 3: Pets. You'll find your self in realistic virtual world with your friends family and now someone to play with. You'll enjoy training your pets with new skills and turning them into unique personality among others in your virtual world. If you love your pets and want to create your family replica along with your pets inside the The Sims then this package is the best one since along with sims you get the full control over your pets too.

For old players of franchisee, only pets concepts are new and rest is same you playing in The Sims 3.

  • Concept: 6/10 - There are new concept but most of it are same as old one.
  • Graphics: 7/10  - Couldn't compare it with other consoles, for PS3 i found it quite acceptable.
  • Sound: 8/10  - Decent & clean, near to natural world, same as you experience in your real world. I love the voice of PETS.
  • Gameplay: 7/10  - Quests and training skills to your pets will engage you for some time.
