This year's E3 was one of the best, as most of the press conference portion was dedicated only for "games, games and games". Microsoft came out with a clear message that they have left behind the controversial E3 2013 and now the only focus is to bring back the lost faith of gamers to Xbox One, whereas Sony's concentration was to take the terrific start of Playstation 4 to the next level. Apart from this, there were some amazing third party game announcements as well. Now that craze of E3 2014 has settled down, lets take a look at the most anticipated games post E3 2014. Playstation 4 Exclusive:
No Man's Sky
The very first glimpse of No Man's Sky was showcased at VGX 2013 and it surprised critics and fans. Hello Games took the center stage once again at E3 2014, and guess what No Man's Sky conquered the show floor. An endless open world title where no one's experience is the same, was the biggest talking point of No Man's Sky, and another surprising part was it came from an indie studio.
Developed by Hello Games, the indie studio behind Playstation 3 hit Joe Danger, No Man's Sky is a science fiction game without limits. If you see a mountain, you can trek there. If you see a planet hanging on the horizon its a real place, with its own rich ecology of creatures and vegetation. You can get in your ship, fly into space and it's yours to explore. Not just that, but every star in the sky is just the light of a sun, with its own solar system waiting for you to discover and adventure in.
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End:
Everyone of us expected Naughty Dog and Sony to reveal the first look of next Uncharted title at E3 2014. The Last of Us on Playstation 3 was a masterpiece and once in a life time experience, so Playstation fans were curious to see what new Naughty Dog has in store for Uncharted 4, and they didn't disappointed at all. The studio unveiled Uncharted 4: A Thief's End with a stunning looking in-game trailer captured directly from Playstation 4. The sequence that was showcased was an actual level from the game, so we can expect to see more improvements as there's still over year left for the launch.
The specialty of Bloodborne can be figured out from this, Sony Boss Shuhei Yoshida himself came on stage to announce it. Bloodborne "earlier codenamed Project Beast" comes from From Software and Hidetaka Miyazaki, creators of Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. Its an all-new action RPG brimming with unforgiving, unrelenting terror.
In Bloodborne, players will face their fears in search for answers in ancient city of Yharnam, which is now cursed with strange endemic illness spreading through the streets like wildfire. Danger, death and madness lurk around every corner of this dark and horrific world, and you must discover its darkest secrets in order to survive.
Remember "Journey" indie game from ThatGameCompany? surely you know it very well, now an ex-Journey art director helped found Giant Squid, a studio that will debut with the PS4 exclusive ABZU. ABZU is an adventure game that will have players explore the ocean and its rich environments.
Xbox One Exclusive:
Insomniac Games' Sunset Overdrive is already described as Killer App for Xbox One in 2014 by none other than Phil Spencer, and it seems like the game is well on track to achieve it. Fans are liking its style, humor and gameplay, probably a must buy Xbox One game in 2014.
Crackdown is a series that knows how to deliver an open-world environment and make it fun to interact with. Crackdown on Xbox One will have larger environments than ever before, and supposedly the best combat system yet.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection
Four games for a price of just $60. This special collection exclusively for Xbox One includes Halo: Combat Evolved through Halo 4, all remastered in 1080p with 60FPS. Made better, Halo 2 is getting some anniversary treatment and is a must buy for anyone even remotely interested in Halo world.
Ori and the Blind Forest
Ori and the Blind Forest is an answer to critics who raised questions on Microsoft's ID@Xbox system. This system has attracted successfully Moon Studios. It's a beautiful platforming game with a lot of tricks up its sleeve.
The original Phantom Dust has become a cult classic over the years, and its the main reason why fans were demanding a next-gen iteration of the game. With a solid mix of action and strategy, it has a little something for everyone.
Wii U Exclusive:
The Legend of Zelda
Zelda franchise for Nintendo is like Uncharted series for Sony. At E3 2014, Nintendo unveil the next installment in the popular franchise, The Legend of Zelda is exclusively for Wii U. This was the much needed announcement to revive Wii U. The game looked stunning and Nintendo confirmed that this time around, the game will have more open feel to it as compared to previous installment.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Kojima promised a special and revengefull journey of our beloved character "Snake" in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and the trailer that was showcased at E3 2014 was bang on target as it gives us a glimpse of exactly what we were promised. The prologue Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes came under the radar of critics as it was too short, but Phantom Pain is going to be 200 times bigger than it. So expect to see lot more action, revenge and drama.
