For the Royal Pools Challenge, one player must stay in the middle at all times, with their feet on the ground. Be careful, or a Psion might knock you up! In the Destiny 2 Leviathan Raid, Challenges Modes are rotating challenges that affect the different portions of the Raid. They add an extra layer of difficulty that players can effectively opt in to should they wish to challenge themselves in the hope of additional rewards. In this guide we will be looking at the Royal Pools Challenge section of the Raid. The guide will assume you have knowledge of how to complete the standard Leviathan Raid. If you are new to the Raid however, but want to try and complete the Challenge modes anyway, I strongly advise you check out our Leviathan Raid Guide. Royal Pools Challenge Mode In the Royal Pools you are tasked with raising Lanterns in the center area by maintaining contact on plates. The standard way to do this is to have four people on the outside plates, with two people rotating out from the center. You are protected from the damaging effect of the water by temporary protective shields, and this allows people to be swapped out to refresh there Psionic Protection, but to always have someone on the outer plates. The Challenge for this section is to always have one person on the plate in the center, or at the very least in the water near the plate. If that person leaves, or jumps, the challenge has been failed. It’s actually not that bad of a challenge, and less of a headache that you might first assume. As normal, four people cover the outer plates, but one of the two who normally work the center will need to stay there. Once again, they cannot leave the water, or jump, so will need to keep an eye on their Psionic Protection timer and refresh it as they need to. The most important thing for this player to remember is to keep a close eye on Psions at all points in time, lest their purple energy attack knock them into the air. The remaining central player needs to constantly run from the center to the outer plates, allowing those players to run to the center to get more Psionic Protection. To make life easier, a player can be off their outer plate for a small amount of time without interfering with the process of raising the Lanters. As such, with a bit of experimentation and practice you should be able to get to the point where you are passing each other on the way to and from your plate. The real key to this is for the central player to be tough and aware. They really cannot afford to die, so maybe a Titan or a Warlock is best for this role. After that, just be aware that it will take longer to do this way that it normally would with two people running from the center. Just keep your wits about you and the Royal Pools Challenge is something you should easily be able to do, netting an extra chest of loot once you succeed.
