The beam rifle is a unique weapon in Remnant: From the Ashes, firing a continuous beam of radiation rather than bullets. Its beam does more damage the longer you hold down the trigger, making it a great choice when you’re focusing on taking down a single touch enemy, especially when you don’t need to break off the attack to dodge too often.

How to Find the Beam Rifle

To get the beam rifle, you’ll first need to find the Monolith checkpoint on Rhom, the same spot where you can find the Void armor set. Getting that set requires solving a puzzle in the courtyard while getting the beam rifle means surviving a fight in the ruined building on the far side.

Cross the courtyard and enter the half-destroyed building across from the checkpoint to start the event. You’ll find yourself in a temple full of futuristic technology. The layout of this area will change in each game, but you’ll have to fight your way through the corridors and find a doorway no matter what. The enemies inside are a mix of fast melee attacks and giant golems with long-range attacks, both of which you should have fought by now.

Once you find the door, pass through to enter a large chamber with some scaffolding in the center and a large, locked door on the other side. To open the door, climb onto the scaffolding and head toward the door. You’ll see a panel with a button on it just in front of the door. Press it to start an event called The Lost Gantry. This will summon swarms of enemies that come from below the walkway and from doors on either side. You’ll just have to dispatch them all to complete the quest.

Surviving the Fight

Most of the enemies will be the melee mutants and golems that you fought before, but there will also be a handful of gun-toting humans. These enemies are much more dangerous, particularly the ones carrying rocket launchers. They should spawn from the doors on the left and right side of the room that leads out onto the walkway, so keep an eye out for those areas in particular. It’s best to spread your team out a bit on the walkway so that the enemies can’t attack you all at once, but stay where you can keep an eye on each other so you can keep each other from getting surrounded or move in to heal if you have that mod. Distracting mods such as the Rattle Weed can be especially helpful here, too.

Once you’ve cleared out the area, the quest will finish, and the door will open, leaving you free to walk in and grab the beam rifle.
