Like most shooters, the game has a range of difficulty levels, but how it works in co-operative play is a little strange.
How Difficulty Works During Co-op
Wolfenstein: Youngblood has a range of difficulty settings that you can choose from as you play. You can also change it at any time by entering the options menu. When you play coop, either with a friend or through a random public lobby, the game does not have a default difficulty. Instead, you can set your difficulty while playing co-op, and this does not impact your co-op partner.
You each experience the game at your chosen difficulty. Two friends of differing skill levels can play together, and one of them can have the difficulty set higher than the other. How much damage you give and receive is affected by your difficulty settings, not your coop partner’s difficulty.
It is an interesting system to use. Although, I am sure if you are playing randomly through matchmaking that the game tries to match you up with someone playing on a similar difficulty level.

If you are draining away more lives than your coop partner, you can lower your difficulty, so they don’t carry you.
