Animal Crossing: New Horizons Character Customization Options

There’s a wide range of character customization options players are going to have in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which is excellent news for anyone who loves to have their village look exactly like them

During Nintendo’s E3 2019 press conference yesterday they revealed a horde of new details about their upcoming titles. Unfortunately, they also had to announce they’re going to delay Animal Cross: New Horizons to 2020 but gave us plenty of new information about the game like multiplayer, crafting, and much more.

There’s also going to be a wide variety of character customization in the game where players are not going to be limited by their Villager’s gender. Aya Kyogoku shared this information in an interview with Polygon. Players are going to have the opportunity to use any facial part, hairstyle, eye color, hair color, and numerous other styles, regardless of their villager’s gender.

“Right from the start, you’ll be able to choose the way you want to look. All the facial parts or hairstyles are all gender-free,” Kyogoku told Polygon during their interview. “So you can select from a pool of hairstyles and facial features and then they’re also changeable at any point in the game. So if you feel like a certain way one day, then you can make that change pretty easily.”

There’s also another big detail players have: they’re going to have the chance to change their villager’s skin-tone. This option is a first for the Animal Crossing series. Given the depth of character customization in Nintendo’s mobile Animal Crossing game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, these options make sense for the main game in the series.

Notably, players can change these choices at any time during their gameplay. If there’s a particular option, they don’t like they can freely alter how their village looks.

While we do have to wait a little bit longer for the game to come out, it does sound like it’s worth the wait. You’ll be able to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons on March 20, 2020, for the Nintendo Switch.
