Best moveset for Whiscash in Pokémon Go

Whiscash is capable of making a big splash when you give it the best moveset.

Whiscash is a worthwhile Pokémon to catch and add to your collection in Pokémon Go. It’s not a Pokémon you’re going to use in the Master League actively, but if you want a reliable Great and Ultra Leagues PvP option, Whiscash is highly recommended. It’s also a good option for raiding against one and three-star Pokémon you find in the world. What makes it so highly recommended is because it only has one weakness for Grass-type moves. However, you do have to make sure your other Pokémon can protect against it because of that weakness. If you want Whiscash to succeed in battle, you also want to teach it the best moveset.

Whiscash is Water and Ground-type Pokémon. It’s only weak to Grass-type moves, and it’s resistant to Electric, Fire, Poison, Rock, and Steel-type moves.

For PvP, Whiscash has a maximum CP of 2,075, an attack of 131, a defense of 123, and a stamina of 203. When you place it in a raid in PvE, it has an attack of 151, a defense of 141, and a stamina of 242. Because of Whiscash’s lower CP, we recommend keeping it in the Great League. However, you’d be able to use it in the Ultra League if you can level it up using XL candy.

Here are all of the moves Whiscash can learn.

Fast moves

  • Mud Shot (Ground-type) – 3 damage and 4.5 energy (1.5 damage per turn)
  • Water Gun (Water-type) – 3 damage and 3 energy (3 damage per turn)

Charged moves

  • Blizzard (Ice-type) – 140 damage and 75 energy
  • Mud Bomb (Ground-type) – 55 damage and 40 energy
  • Water Pulse (Water-type) – 70 damage and 60 energy

When considering what fast move to teach Whiscash, we recommend you go with mud shot. It has a higher energy output than water gun and does roughly the same overall damage. You want to focus on what amount of energy your Pokémon can generate from fast moves, allowing them to use their charged moves. Whiscash has several available to it that can be utilized to do some decent damage.

For charged moves, you have three choices to pick from. You want to go with mud bomb for your first choice. It only requires 40 energy, and it does 55 damage. It’s not the heaviest hitter on Whiscash’s list, but it’s capable of lowering an opponent’s shields and draining them. Plus, if you Whiscash can’t last forever, it can use this attack at least twice.

The final choice we recommend you use on Whiscash is blizzard. While it requires the most energy, it has an incredible amount of damage. If your alternative is to wait for 60 energy to use water pulse and do 70 damage, you might as well generate 15 more energy and use blizzard, unleashing 140 damage. That’s a worthwhile trade.

Overall, Whiscash won’t make the biggest splash in the Ultra League unless you level it up using XL candy. You primarily want to use it in the Great League. The best moveset you can give Whiscash will be mud shot for its fast move, and then blizzard and mud bomb for its charged moves.
