Tuning Points in Star Wars: Galactic Racer determine just how strong your vehicle is by the time you start a Tour. This is the more “permanent” stat upgrade compared to Upgrade Kits that you earn across a Tour, which only stay during that run. And having a strong vehicle at base can make your matches a breeze, especially once you equip your preferred Racer Style, Abilities, Favors, and even upgrades along the way.
Even if you get the occasional Faulty Part, the strength of your stats can already compensate for whatever setback you get. And just like any other permanent stat upgrade in roguelikes, Tuning Points are not so easy to earn – and they’re even harder to use to fully upgrade your ride.
Leveling up after you earn Tuning Points in Star Wars: Galactic Racer

Tuning Point earnings in your Galactic Racer gameplay matter more if you’re gunning for that maxxed-out kit. At least, inasmuch as the game would allow it. While your vehicle does have 42 stat blocks to fill out, you can only fill 15 of them, one corresponding to a Level and costing more for every upgrade. You need a total of 163 Tuning Points to get the Level 15 cap, and you need to earn those points per vehicle you want to upgrade.
So if you want to get all three vehicles to max level, that’s 489 Tuning Points. And earning this much could be fast or slow depending on your strategy.
| VEHICLE LEVEL | TUNING POINTS COST | TOTAL OVERALL |
|---|---|---|
| Level 1 | 1 (to Level 2) | 1 |
| Level 2 | 3 (to Level 3) | 4 |
| Level 3 | 4 (to Level 4) | 8 |
| Level 4 | 6 (to Level 5) | 14 |
| Level 5 | 8 (to Level 6) | 22 |
| Level 6 | 9 (to Level 7) | 31 |
| Level 7 | 11 (to Level 8) | 42 |
| Level 8 | 13 (to Level 9) | 55 |
| Level 9 | 14 (to Level 10) | 69 |
| Level 10 | 16 (to Level 11) | 85 |
| Level 11 | 17 (to Level 12) | 102 |
| Level 12 | 19 (to Level 13) | 121 |
| Level 13 | 20 (to Level 14) | 141 |
| Level 14 | 22 (to Level 15) | 163 |
Just survive your Standard Races

The most “traditional” Tour Event in Galactic Racer is the Standard Race, which has the run-of-the-mill “go fast, finish first” gameplay one would expect from a racing title. Standard Races can be a straightforward sprint or lap-based affair, and you always race against 11 other competitors. There’s the usual risk of getting Wrecked Out if you get too many Crashes, but that’s about it.
As long as you finish a Standard Race, you get +1 Tuning Point. It doesn’t matter if you finish first or last, you still get that Tuning Point. Where placement matters will depend on how many Credits and other bonuses you earn, as they improve your vehicle throughout the Tour. Secure your Tuning Points with a survival-oriented Galactic Racer build and you’ll be fine.
Eliminators offer a decent risk factor

We often call Eliminators one of the more “dreaded” Tour Events in Galactic Racer, as losing this will cost you a League Entry Token. It’s bad enough that you only get up to three League Entry Tokens per Tour, but Eliminators get last placers out of the running during the race. This means the game will slowly remove racers from play until there are literally three of you left.
Now, the good news here is that when you do make it to the top three, all that’s left to do is finish the race. Finishing here will give you +4 Tuning Points. With the right combat-oriented Abilities, Eliminators can become a quick way to secure the Tuning Points you need for permanent upgrades.
Scenarios net you the most rewards

Did you know that you can earn Tuning Points when doing Scenarios in Galactic Racer? Unlike main story content, Scenarios give you some additional insight into the lives of other racers and rivals you’ll encounter in the game. Each Scenario comprises five Tour Events, which include four Standard Races and one rather challenging Eliminator finale.
Scenarios can get tedious to get through, and you have no control over the vehicle setup or the variables (Abilities, Racer Styles, etc.) each one throws at you. But the game does reward your perseverance, as each Scenario nets +10 Tuning Points when finished. With 13 Scenarios available, that’s a whopping 130 Tuning Points right off the bat when you complete them. Pressure’s off here, too, as failing a race in a Scenario won’t put your campaign at risk.
Frequently Asked Questions about earning Tuning Points in Galactic Racer
Is it ever possible to max out stats in Galactic Racer?
Yes, but only with Upgrades in the Tour. You can only allocate a total of 15 points as permanent upgrades, and start the game with said permanent stats.
Can I start a Tour with max stats in Galactic Racer?
No. The 15-Level Cap means you only have 15 points to distribute across all stats. There will always be empty stats, of which you need Upgrades to fill out.
