Star Wars: Galactic Racer reinvigorates the idea of a traditional racing game with high-stakes roguelike elements. So it’s not enough that you’re good behind the wheel, but you need to be just as good at choosing your Racer Style, securing the advantage with Abilities, and even choosing which permanent upgrades to make so you start new runs with better odds. But perhaps more importantly, your choice of Galactic Racer Tour Events may very well determine your fate.
Similar to other racing games, Galactic Racer offers a standard slate of different racing types. However, with its roguelike progression, the series of races you partake in all depend on which path you choose. With this in mind, which Tour Events are the most ideal choices?
Standard Races

These Events are your traditional races. You and 11 others are sent to a track and you race to the finish line, usually in laps of three, but it could increase or even be just a straightforward race. In some instances, the track is presented but in reverse, adding an extra level of challenge to players.
Standard Races are the most common Event you’ll see in Galactic Racer, usually interspersed between Eliminators and Time Trials (randomized, being a roguelike). It’s also the “safest” Event type, through which you can still get Rewards.
The play: Finish last, just don’t crash out
Finishing last won’t cost your League Entry Token, so you can be as chill as you need to be. Just be careful with how you maneuver your vehicle since getting Wrecked is still an option.
Scrap Dealer

The Scrap Dealer offers a bit of a reprieve during your Tour, especially when you realize your build isn’t as strong as you thought if was or if you got a Faulty Part that needs repairs. Or maybe you’re looking into more Parts to use to give you the edge, which helps if you’re playing on a map that isn’t your strong suit.
Scrap Dealers can offer you new Parts in exchange for Credits, some of which come with Faults to circumvent very impressive buffs. They can also repair Faulty Parts you have, allowing you to enjoy their benefits without the hassle.
The play: Take them for repairs, extra boost with Parts
If you’re looking for a change of pace for your build, go for the Scrap Dealer. Just pay attention whenever you want to buy a good Part, because the setback can definitely harm your build if it involves something you don’t know how to work around.
Field Tests

Every so often, you will encounter Field Tests in your Galactic Racer Tour. This Event will introduce you to a scenario where you have to test a vehicle, a mechanism of sorts, or a general aspect of gameplay. They won’t cost you a League Entry Token if you lose, and the only rewards are available when you fulfill the condition specified.
Unlike other Tour Events in Galactic Racer, you can play a variety of Field Tests:
- Time Trial: You need to test your speed and match (or outrun) a specific target time. Finish six of Hibi’s Time Trials and you get the Gadgeteer Favor
- Ramjet: You need to fulfill a set time while using your Ramjet. This will test your Ramjetting habits – especially proccing Ramjet chains to maximize your output
- Precision: These force you to test your ability to avoid crashing into tight corners, which you can usually do with hard braking or using special maneuvers (Drift, Kinetic Burst, Knife Edge)
- Battling: These make you fight other Racers, be it through demolishing them outright or evading their attacks
The play: It’s risk-free, so might as well win
Being a risk-free event, Field Tests can be quite generous ways of testing out new playstyles, mechanics, and even vehicles. Getting unlimited crashes means you can race to your heart’s content. But remember, you only get Field Test rewards if you actually fulfill the condition. Since you already know there’s nothing to lose, might as well win.
Mystery Encounters

Not all Galactic Racer Tour Events are races, as some of them are Mystery Encounters. These are nodes with question mark icons and take you to a scenario involving one of your many Racer rivals. What happens in a Mystery Encounter is largely, well, a mystery. They’re mostly choice-driven, but the topic of that choice is usually only provided when you’re there. Maybe it’s a trade, or the Rival offers you a handicap, or maybe some other interaction.
Sometimes when you refuse what they’re offering, they get you a temporary setback in the next race. Maybe you crash on launch (curse you Biddy Blas) or you suddenly get a Faulty Part, so there’s a debuff you have to play around with until you get it repaired.
Interestingly enough, some Favors only unlock when you make progress through Mystery Encounters. Since Favors can affect your future Tours in a more overarching way, unlocking them will do you more good than harm. Take note of these scenarios:
| Favour | Character, Condition | Effect |
| Racer Roulette | Accept the bets of Biddy Blas even when he increases it, then beat him every time until he gives up | Get 1 League Token after winning six (only four when fully upgraded) Biddy Blas Sidebets in a single Tour |
| Underhanded Upperhand | Pay for Malis Vazosk’s services four times | Anything that triggers a System Malfunction will last 3x (up to 10x when ugpraded) as long on your Sidebet or Head-to-Head opponent |
| Second Chance | Pick one handicap from Katja Mox and complete three planets with it | During the first two planets (up to the first four when fully upgraded) you don’t lose 1 League Entry Token |
The play: They can advance progress in specific Favors, so take them
Similar to Field Test, Mystery Encounters are generally risk-free (unless some conditions literally bite back, often with a Faulty Part or outright crashing you – but what’s life without thrill?) so they’re ideal for survival-focused runs. They also help unlock specific Favors, so better take them when given the chance. A useful guide would be:
- If you need the safety net, take it
- If it leads to any Favor encounters, take it
- If you need Credits or Vehicle Parts, skip it
Eliminators

Perhaps the most dangerous among the “traditional” Tour Events, Eliminators are exactly like what they suggest – elimination rounds. Unlike Standard Races where you can finish all your laps in last place, Eliminators remove you from play if you stay behind long enough.
Throughout an Eliminator round, the last places are slowly removed from the race until it’s just you and two others. By the time only three of you remain, you just need to finish the race without getting Wrecked Out. In a map you’re unfamiliar with, it’s fine to finish 3rd, but if you know your way around it, you might as well finish 1st since the rewards are worth much more than the other Tour Events.
The play: Take the risk if you’re willing to bet it all
If you trust your current build or like the map layouts so far (you’d know if you’ve done a run on the planet a couple of times), then definitely take the Eliminator. The only dangerous component here is if you’re unsure how to make a comeback if you do crash or get overtaken at any point. But if you know the map well enough that you pretty much have a general idea how the tracks appear, the Eliminator may very well worth the reward locked behind the podium finish.
Rival Head-to-Heads

Annoy your Rival enough and they might just challenge for a good ol’ fashioned Rival Head-to-Head. This is similar to Eliminator, only this time the focus is on you and the Rival you’re fighting. This means they’ll be very eager and very motivated to take you down.
The only reason to be interested in a Rival Head-to-Head is if it’s tied to some Favour you want to unlock, as there are a couple locked behind beating that Rival. Here’s a list for your reference:
Interestingly enough, some Favours only unlock when you make progress through Mystery Encounters. Since Favours can affect your future Tours in a more overarching way, unlocking them will do you more good. Take note of these scenarios:
| Favour | Character, Condition | Effect |
| Fan Club | Place Side Bets on Lyren Shok until they challenge you | Get a 20% chance to gain a bonus +1 Upgrade Pack (up to +3 when fully ranked up) when you finish podium (1st to 3rd) in an Event |
| Victorious Loser | Place Side Bets on Griff Halloran until they ask to fight you | Get 50% more Credits when you finish 9th and below (up to 4th and below) in an Event |
| Silent Defiance | Place Side Bets against Sen Fira until they ask to get on a Head-to-Head | Get a 25% (up to 50% and boosted rarity when fully upgraded) chance of gaining a bonus Part Pack when you complete an event |
| Family Legacy | Place Side Bets on Ary Quill until they invite you to a Head-to-Head | Get 200 Credits (up to 600) whenever you Takedown a Rival and 400 Credits (up to 1200) whenever you takedown Kestar Bool |
The play: If it’s worth the reward, then go for it
If you’re playing for the sake of survival, there’s really no reason to risk your League Entry Token to fight a Rival. But if you’re after a specific Favour in your next run, then might as well go for it. Similar to Eliminator, just make sure you’re confident with your build so you have a better shot at winning.
Frequently Asked Questions about Galactic Racer Tour Events
Can I skip a Galactic Racer Tour Event if I don’t like it?
The only way to properly “skip” an Event is if there’s another path available besides the one you don’t like. All Tour Events are pre-prepared in your Map and through randomized paths. You’re required to take whichever Events are present in the path you’re currently in.
Can I backtrack and take other Galactic Racer Tour Events I haven’t done?
No, you cannot go back and take other branches. Your current Tour progression is tied to whichever series of Tour Events your path contains.
