This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Mega Pokémon in Pokémon Go are great Pokémon to use in raids to give you and your friends the boost you need to succeed in a tough battle. Abomasnow receives its Mega Evolution, and one of the best ways to receive Mega Candy is to defeat it during Mega Raids. You and several other trainers will need to work together to take it down, so you expect a tough fight ahead of you.

Mega Abomasnow weaknesses

Mega Abomasnow is a Grass and Ice-type Pokémon. That means it’s weak to Bug, Fighting, Fire, Flying, Poison, Rock, and Steel-type Pokémon attacks. It is resistant to Electric, Grass, Ground, and Water-type moves, so avoid those during the battle.

Pokémon to counter Mega Abomasnow

The best Pokémon to use against Mega Abomasnow include Reshiram, Darmanitan, and Chandelure.

Reshiram is a legendary Fire and Dragon-type Pokémon. It was first released in summer 2020, alongside the other legendary Dragon-type Pokémon, Kyurem and Zekrom. Because it’s a Fire-type, it’s an excellent choice to use against Mega Abomasnow during this raid encounter. It has a maximum CP of 4,038, an attack pf 275, a defense of 211, and stamina of 205. The best moves it can learn include fire fang for its fast move, crunch, and overheat for its charge moves.

Next, you have Darmanitan, another Fire-type Pokémon. This is not the Galarian version, which is an Ice-type. The Fire-type is a great Fire-type Pokémon on the mobile game. However, while it has a high attack power, it has significantly lower defensive stats, so make sure this is not one of the last Pokémon you use against Mega Abomasnow. It has a maximum CP of 3,105, an attack of 263, a defense of 114, and stamina of 233. During this battle, the best moves it can use are incinerate for its fast move and rock slide and overheat for its charge moves.

The final best choice to use in this raid is Chandelure, a Fire and Ghost-type Pokémon. It’s another great Fire-type Pokémon with a high attack stat. Fortunately, unlike Darmanitan, it has significantly higher defensive stats but lower health. It has a maximum CP of 3,268, an attack of 271, a defense of 182, and a stamina of 155. The best moves it can use against Mega Abomasnow include incinerate for its fast move and shadow ball and flame charge for its charge moves.

The other Pokémon you can use in this encounter include Entei, Mega Houndoom, Mega Charizard Y, Magmortar, Moltres, Blaziken, Heatran, Arcanine, Typhlosion, and Metagross.

After you’ve defeated Mega Abomasnow, you’ll have a chance to capture a regular Abomasnow at the end of the battle that can potentially be shiny. You’ll also receive Abomasnow Mega Candy based on how quickly you beat the raid.
