Out with the old and in the new is what Niantic is doing with EX Raids. Mewtwo has finally left the EX Raids and has made room for a new Pokémon. Deoxys will be taken over as the new EX Raid boss, and it will start with its Normal Forme.
What is Deoxy?
Before we get into the counters of Deoxy, let’s get to know what Deoxy is. This knowledge will help those who are unfamiliar with these Mythical Pokémon.
Deoxys is a Psychic-type Pokémon that can take on four different formes. These formes are classified as Attack, Defense, Normal, and Speed. Each formes’ look is based on its main stat, but will remain a Psychic type.
Now that you know what a Deoxy is, we’ll tell you how to catch a Deoxys Normal Forme in a Pokémon GO EX Raid. Since Deoxys is a Psychic-type Pokémon, you will want to bring your most powerful Dark-type Pokémon to the forefront. While Ghost-type Pokémon is effective against Psychic, remember that Ghost Pokémon are a dual type and paired with Poison, which Psychic types are effective against.
The Legendary Psychic-type Pokémon is going to be one of three main Pokémon you will want in your lineup. The most effective move set you will want is Psycho Cut or Confusion and Shadow Ball.
The Dark and Ground-type Pokémon has been the main counter for all Psychic types and will be called upon again to battle against Deoxys. Bite and Crunch will be the moves you want Tyranitar to have.
While this Ghost and Poison-type will be able to dish out a lot of damage on Deoxys, remember that Gengar will be weak to Psychic-type attacks due to its Poison-type as well. A move set of Shadow Claw or Hex and Shadow Ball are what you want Gengar to have.
This Dragon and Flying-type Pokémon is always a good choice against tough opponents. Dragon Tail and Outrage are the moves you will want to have.
The Dark-type evolution of Eevee is a favorite of mine against any Psychic-type Pokémon and will be great against Deoxys. The move set you will want Umbreon to have is Snarl and Foul Play.
After battling Deoxys, you will have a chance to catch the Normal Forme. No word on when the other formes will be available but adding Deoxys to your PokéDex will put you one step closer to catching them all.
