AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative throws that classic detective scenario at you as you visit Tokiko in her office. This is a closed-door murder mystery where no one has entered or exited the room for hours, yet she has met her untimely end. After questioning her bodyguard long enough to confirm his story, it is time to get to work.

As you start your investigation into Tokiko’s murder at the hands of the Half Body Serial Killer, you’ll have the chance to wander around the room and explore your surroundings as Ryuki. You’ll quickly run into the moving statues that flank her desk and the infrared beams that are being fired across the room. You’ll need to switch between normal, infrared, and X-Ray vision to catch all of the clues in the room, such as the numbers hidden on the front of Tokiko’s desk, which only become visible when you look at them under X-Rays.

Checking the wall behind the desk will also require you to switch between vision modes. Looking at it normally will reveal the familiar Nonuple-X design on the wall. Switch to X-Ray vision, and you’ll spot the keypad hidden behind the design. Finally, look at the design with infrared vision, and you’ll see the seven squares glowing with electric energy. We have everything we need to uncover the keypad code in Tokiko’s office, but we’ll need to look around a bit more to get to that point.

Finish your investigation into the room by checking the statues that flank the desk, uncovering the rails that allow them to move, and confirming some facts about Tokiko’s corpse itself. When you’ve checked everything you need, the game will progress to the re-enactment portion, where Toma and Ryuki attempt to put together how the killer got into the room undetected.

Toma will ask Ryuki how he plans to move the statues into place. The correct answer here is “Use Force,” but there is no penalty for answering anything else to both questions other than seeing Toma berate the young detective. Soon, she’ll ask him for the code to the keypad that was behind the Nonuple-X design on the far wall.

This part of the investigation isn’t immediately obvious, especially since you can’t look at the images saved during your search of the room. The key is the Nonuple-X design, which matches the layout of the numbers found on Tokiko’s desk. If you try answering a few times and give Toma the wrong answer, she’ll berate you and lay the two designs on top of each other, as shown below.

The key to uncovering the keypad code in Tokiko’s office in AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative is the alignment between the boxes at the bottom of the Nonuple-X design, as well as the X’s that make up the design here. You’ll need to do some basic multiplication here to figure out the right sequence for the code.

Multiply the numbers in each column and enter them into the keypad in the order presented. Doing so – and remembering that each column with a zero will end up as zero – you get the following sequence:

4 9 0 1 0 9 5

This will give you the correct keypad code in Tokiko’s office in AI: The Somnium Files – nirvanA Initiative, allowing you to progress the story further and earn a little praise from Toma for your efforts.
