How to find the safe combo for the Dartmoor case file in Hitman 3

Don't overthink the numbers.

The Dartmoor level in Hitman 3 will task you with offing the nefarious Alexa Carlisle, but you’ll also have to find an all-important case file. Doing so will help to bring you closer to Arthur Edwards AKA the Constant, who you’ll know as the main villain of this game. This case file is in Carlisle’s office on the top floor, but it’ll be locked in a safe. Luckily, opening it won’t be that difficult.

You can open this safe and retrieve the file before or after you assassinate Carlisle, but be wary of security in the manor. First off, you won’t even be able to reach the top level (Level 2 on the map) without a proper disguise — take down a security guard and steal his suit. Second, two security guards will be outside the balcony — they’ll mouth off about how the safe is hidden behind a painting, which is to the right of Carlisle’s desk. The two of them will enter the office to take guard whenever Carlisle walks in, but while they’re on the balcony, you can incapacitate them and dump them in a convenient chest all the way to the left.

You won’t want those two guards to be looking while you get to the safe; there’s a button on Carlisle’s chair that will reveal the safe behind the painting, but it’s an illegal action.

After you press it, go up to the safe — it’s time to get to work.

You’ll need to figure out the four numbers to the safe combination, and this will be quite straightforward. Take note of the four images above the safe: clock, telescope, fire, and a moose mount. Each of these objects is in Alexa Carlisle’s office, and you’ll find a number next to each of those. It isn’t anything complicated like what time it is on the clock or what the telescope is pointing at or anything of the sort; there will simply be a tile with a number alongside all of these.

First, from Alexa Carlisle’s desk, go forward and to the right; on a table against the wall is a painting and a clock. In front of the clock is your first combo number.

Go up the stairs in Carlisle’s office, and next to a windowed door that leads to another balcony is a telescope. On the wall to the right of the telescope is your second number.

Go back downstairs; from Carlisle’s desk, the very left side of the room is where you will find the fireplace. The number is on the exposed brick, right above the fire itself.

Finally, find the mount right above the entrance to the office. Angle the camera in a way that you can see the number above and behind the head.

Going by our observations, the safe code should be 1-9-7-5. Again, make sure that you do all of this without any eyes on you. You should be scot-free with that case file now; exit the level if you already murdered Alexa Carlisle, or go do that if you haven’t yet.
