How to Heal in Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy

Heal thyself.
This article is over 3 years old and may contain outdated information

As you fight your way through the world of Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy, you will end up taking plenty of damage. The threats are many and varied, and tougher fights can turn into wars of attrition where you will need to out heal the incoming damage to have a chance of success.

To heal during the battle, you will need to have access to a healing item. The first healing item you can get is Grass Beans, and you will need to learn the recipe in your Skill Tree. You can find it directly above the central node.

After that, you will need to head to the cauldron in your atelier and synthesize the Grass Beans using the following ingredients:

  • Medicinal
  • Flowers
  • Edibles

To get these, grab any flowers and plants that you can find when you are exploring the world. You should have plenty of them from your first time exploring outside the Captial. You can choose to pick and place each ingredient yourself, or hit the button prompted at the bottom of the screen to automatically add the materials. If picking the materials yourself, pay attention to the quality of each one, as the higher the quality, the better the results.

Now, when you have made the healing item, you need to open the main menu and go to the Core Item tab. Click on your character, or the character you wish to equip the item to, and place it in one of the slots. They now have this item and can use it in battle.

To use a Core Item, you need Core Charges. These will slowly build up from dealing damage to enemies and will allow you to use the items in combat. Here is an easy to understand breakdown of how it all works:

  • Using basics attacks and combos earns Action Points
  • Enough Actions Points will allow you to use a Skill.
  • Using Skills will earn you Core Charge.
  • Core Charges will allow you to use Core Items.

When you have Core Charge, open the items menu in combat and select your healing item.

You only need to make an item once to be able to use it over and over again. As the game goes on, you will need to make better versions of the item with better quality ingredients, as the healing done by an early game version won’t help you enough in the late game.

There are other healing items that you will get access to as you play through the game, but they are mostly locked away behind completing ruins. The process will be the same each time, and you will need to learn the recipe and synthesize the item to use it.
