Rastakhan’s Rumble is the name of the latest Hearthstone expansion, and it’s been out for around a week. The meta is starting to take shape, with some classes leading the charge as the strongest ones in the game while other Hearthstone classes have fallen to the wayside. In this guide to the top Rastakhan decks in December 2018, we’re taking a look at three different Mage decks. Here are the top Hearthstone Rastakhan Mage decks for the first month of Rastakhan’s Rumble.

Tempo Mage – Standard (Aseto_HS)

Tempo Mage has existed for a long time but with the recent nerf to Mana Wyrm, it’s gone from being the first card included to not appearing at all. This Tempo Mage deck from Aseto_HS only utilizes one new Hearthstone card from Rastakhan’s Rumble: Spellzerker. The 2-cost 2/3 has +2 Spell Damage while damaged, so if you’re close to lethal, you’ll often find yourself pinging your own Spellzerker for an extra two points of damage. The deck is mainly about getting cheap spells with Sorcerer’s Apprentice, clearing the board early game, then going face with the Fireballs and Frostbolts.

Odd Mage – Standard (Jagabutter_0919)

Everyone speculated that Odd Mage could become popular with some of the new Mage cards in Rastakhan’s Rumble, and that seems to be the case. There’s a couple of new cards here: Daring Fire-Eater is a 1-cost 1/1 that makes your next hero power deal +2 damage, while Pyromaniac is a 3-cost 3/4 that draws a card whenever your hero power kills a minion. There’s also Blast Wave which is a 5-cost spell that deals two damage to all minions, with the Overkill ability to draw a card. Finally, Jan’alai, the Dragonhawk is the new Mage legendary that summons Ragnaros, the Firelord if you’ve dealt a total of eight damage with your hero power that game. Together, Odd Mage is a very powerful deck that shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Odd Mage – Wild (GetMeowth)

This deck is another Odd Mage but optimized for Wild. It utilizes a number of long gone cards, like Zombie Chow, Brann Bronzebeard, Polymorph: Boar, Azure Drake, Eliza the Trailblazer, Dr. Boom… there’s quite a few! If you play Brann + Jan’alai on the same turn, you could summon TWO Ragnaros’, which is a very powerful combination indeed.
