A Bioware developer on Reddit clarified that Bioware PC version won’t be a simple port from PS4 and Xbox One version, in fact, a the development team is putting an extra effort to build Anthem for PC.
Discussing the matter with fans on Reddit, BioWare revealed the Canadian developer is putting a lot of effort into building a proper PC version of Anthem, which is said not to be destined to be a simple port from consoles.
“Everyone is constantly developing on the PC platform,” BioWare told a fan on Reddit, also explaining it “understands the concern” about the possibility of a disappointing Anthem port from the console versions.
On top of that, during the weekend the studio also discussed the way weapon and character progression works in the upcoming game, hinting at a hybrid system which allows gamers to both develop their arsenal and be rewarded for constantly changing it.
“One advantage to having a more static model is that it’s a lot easier to entice players into different styles of gameplay. You find something new, it’s more powerful than what you have… you’re likely to give it a go!,” BioWare said.
“Alternatively, with things that grow in power over time/usage… you tend to get a lot more attached to the items you have. They start to form part of the identity of your character. A lot of it depends on what the progression goals are with a given system. Currently, we’re doing both styles (for different areas of progression).”
Anthem is releasing in 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The game will make an appearance at EA Play Event, but there is no confirmation on whether it will be available in playable form or not.
