Radical Heights player count plummets 82 percent in just two weeks

Boss Key Productions’ second attempt at a blockbuster multiplayer affair came in the form of Radical Heights, a colorful and “quirky” shooter that marked the studio’s take on the Battle Royale genre. It’s been out for two weeks, and while it seemed as though it could be off to a promising start ahead of its official debut, its player count is already dwindling in a big way. According to GitHyp, it’s actually dropped a disheartening 82%, in fact.

The Battle Royale genre is crowded right now, with powerhouses PUBG and Fortnite dominating the space, so it’s not surprising that Radical Heights has had trouble carving out a space for itself in a genre where there are so many me-too products. It’s not shocking to think that Radical Heights could shut down in an even shorter time period than LawBreakers if things keep up like this.

After LawBreakers went down a similar path and ended up being shut down by Boss Key Productions after a lengthy period on life support, it’s hard not to think the same will happen to Radical Heights. Boss Key rushed to put this title together in about 5 months, and you can really see and feel the lack of quality when you play. Unfinished textures, glitches, and other issues abound, and the game only peaked at around 12,500 players on its second day out, then fell to about 2,000 only a few days ago.

You can try Radical Heights right now on PC for free, but it doesn’t do much as a Battle Royale title to distinguish itself from the others on the market. When you could have a complete, polished game like Fortnite’s Battle Royale to play around in, or the constantly evolving PUBG, a paid affair, why would you invest time in a new title that’s barely gotten its sea legs? We’ll have to see what ends up happening with the fledgling title, and hopefully it doesn’t end up another LawBreakers-like casualty in the race to procure another overnight hit.
