For those who missed it, Ubisoft had a live announcement for Ghost Recon Breakpoint, the next title in the Ghost Recon franchise. This title places after Wildlands and features a villain who was a former Ghost.

One of the big takeaways from the live announcement stream was Ubisoft’s promise to delivery major content updates to the game every four months. What these content updates are going to contain are not known at this time. However, they’re going to serve as milestones throughout the time of the game’s post-launch lifestyle.

Ubisoft has made a strong effort to ensure their player’s know they’re going to support their games well after it launches. For example, the developer’s most recent game, The Division 2, has a similar development cycle. With The Division 2, there are three significant updates planned for this year, each revolving around a particular season. Each of these content updates is going to build on existing gameplay mechanics, build on the game’s foundation, and include new content for the players to try out in the world.

From what the developers explained during the live stream, we can expect a similar practice. However, for those who have kept up to date with Ubisoft games, this should come as no surprise to anyone.

A huge complaint from Ubisoft’s first Division game was the lack of endgame content. Many of the players were running through the game, getting to the end, and finding there was nothing to do play go into the game’s player-versus-player combat zones, and fight it out. Ubisoft took this criticism to heart, and have since changed their focus and have made sure to include additional endgame content to keep their players busy after their title’s main story.

We did not get an official release date for Ghost Recon Breakpoint, but the game leaked yesterday to the Ubisoft store before the developers took it down. There was a release date for October 4 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, but this has yet to be confirmed.
