A remake of 1993 Game Boy classic, Nintendo gave us a more in-depth look at just what The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening will look like on the Nintendo Switch.

We already knew that it was going to keep the original top-down perspective that most 2D and 3D hybrid Zelda titles on handheld use and familiar gameplay elements from the original too.

The almost clay or plastic-like look that the remake’s graphics have made the game look distinct from the start, but getting to see stuff like combat and dialogue in that style make that style pop. We also got a brief look at some of the content they are adding to the two-decade-old title. A lot of it was seamlessly updated and is going to mesh well with the Nintendo Switch.

The original game did have a remake in The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX, though it was more like a re-release with colorized graphics and a few additions like a new dungeon. That title was released on the Game Boy Color on 1998 and was also the most recent port of the game, as it released on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console in 2011.

There’s a new mode coming to the game where players can construct their dungeons, creating their adventures in the game. There’s plenty of pre-made options that players can start from, and then build from there to create their take on it.

Now that we know what is getting added to the game, players can pick up the game on later this year on September 20 for the Nintendo Switch.
