Final Fantasy VII Comparison Video Analysis Shows Improvements In The Remake

Things are looking good for the Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Square Enix confirmed once again how it managed to combine high-quality artistry with state of the art graphics once it has brought the game at E3 2019 for a full showcase.

The game has been through a lot during its lifetime. Final Fantasy 7 initially released in 1997, passing from the tech demo shown at the reveal of PlayStation 3, and finally reaching the announce of a proper remake at E3 2015.

In a new video, Digital Foundry offered an in-depth look at how the title has changed over the years. The detailed video showcases the differences in technology and how the developer remained loyal to the game's core origins, such as intro sequences, characters and more as these concepts transferred over into the remake.

"Unreal Engine 4 powers this long-awaited remake - and it's latest 2019 showing marks a huge milestone for a project that stretches back to the E3 2005 tech demo," says the description of the video. You can watch it below.

"The new material design, lighting, and post-effects all have a huge bearing on one of Square Enix's most ambitious projects. Tom takes point on how far we've come since the PlayStation classic - and what we can expect of the final game."

The first episode of the Final Fantasy VII Remake releases on March 3, 2020, for the PlayStation 4.
