Magic: The Gathering is teaming up with My Little Pony to release a limited edition set of cards based on the popular series of rainbow-colored equines. It’s a mash-up that’s sure to leave some people very excited and everyone else scratching their head.

The collaboration, called Ponies: The Galloping, consists of three physical cards with matching playmats, plus four digital card sleeves for Magic: The Gathering Arena. If the whole thing seems a little silly, keep in mind that it’s for a good cause. As IGN reports, all proceeds from the series will benefit the Seattle Children’s Hospital through the Extra Life Charity.

The three unique cards in the set aren’t tournament legal, and wouldn’t function very well even in casual play. For instance, one card references other cards that don’t exist in the game. One of them requires the player to use a My Little Pony toy, and another has an ability that makes other players “become your best friend.” These were mostly for more for collector’s items to raise money for charity than actual cards. While their actual abilities remind me of the parody card packs that Wizards of the Coast has released periodically throughout Magic’s lifetime.

While there’s no serious intention for the cards’ abilities, their art is no joke. The illustrations look every bit as good as a typical Magic: The Gathering card, with work by artists Andrea Radek, Jennifer L. Meyer, and John Thacker.

The cards and playmats will be available exclusively through HasbroPulse.com from Oct. 22 to Nov. 5, with the digital sleeves on sale in Magic: The Gathering Arena from Oct. 28 to Nov. 4. Proceeds will go to Extra Life, a charity that raises money for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals through gaming initiatives. Wizards of the Coast has partnered with Extra Life before for events based on Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons. Headquartered in Seattle, the company is donating profits from this fundraiser to the Seattle Children’s Hospital.
