Crash Team Racing had the third biggest launch this year in the United Kingdom, as reported by GamesIndustry International. The game has only released last Friday and is breaking its first records, as it happened with the first remake in the franchise, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy two years ago.
As third biggest UK 2019’s launch, the remake of CTR has only been beaten by Days Gone, the most significant launch overall, and Resident Evil 2, two games that perhaps have had a “little” bigger budget thanks to their publishers Sony and Capcom, and overall being in two genres which usually have more success than arcade kart racing lately.
Interestingly, the game has sold four times the number of copies moved by Team Sonic Racing over the same period, which gives you an idea of how much anticipated this remake of the original Crash Team Racing was, and perhaps how longer its post-release tail will be.
Here is the full top ten chart:
- Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled
- FIFA 19
- Forza Horizon 4
- Days Gone
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Battlefield 5
- GTA 5
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- The Division 2
- Anthem
As you can see, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is being followed by FIFA 19, and it’s worth noting that it has sold eight times the copies of the sports game. It’s been around for a while now, this is true, but this is another clear signal of how much accessible the IP is over there.
