A new update for Pokémon Go launched earlier today, adding a new shiny filter and an overhauled news section.
Eagle-eyed fans over on TheSilphRoad, however, have dug a little deeper into the update’s files and may have revealed some new modes coming in a future update.
The datamine discovered two files that seem to hint at a future quest mode in the game. The quest mode was discovered in the Android Packing Kit under the names “STORY_QUEST” and “CHALLENGE_QUEST.”
The daily spin and catch bonuses that players get for their first Pokémon caught and Pokéstop location every day were originally called quests. They have now been replaced by these two new options.
A form of quests already exists in Pokémon Go with the popular achievement system. Players are rewarded for catching a certain type of Pokémon or by doing specific actions with one of three rewards ranging from bronze to gold.
The datamine found that these quests will have goals and rewards but other then that, the specifics are a mystery.
For now, all players can do is sit and wait for Niantic to reveal more.
