Microsoft has indeed just updated its old generation consoles, which this way reaches the version 2.0.17526.0. Nothing is really changing in terms of functionalities, since it only features “minor bug fixes and improvements.”
It’s something Sony has used us during the last few years, especially when it comes to PlayStation Vita, most probably in the effort to prevent pirates and hackers to completely put their hands on the latest version of the firmware.
We don’t know whether this is the case for Microsoft. There’s a chance they’ve discovered some type of vulnerability, though, and just dropped this piece of update to polish the operating system up and make it secure again.
Sure, it’s curious to see such thing happen just a few days before the E3 2018 kicks off, but we’re pretty sure this isn’t anything you could link to the upcoming showcase, where we expect a look into the future of Xbox gaming, rather than another jump in the past.
Are you still playing Xbox 360 games on the original system? Let us know in the comments below.
