Over a decade later since the RPG Maker 2003 project Yume Nikki released in 2004, Kadokawa Corporation has announced a follow-up project. The cult indie game is getting an additional installment in the form of Yume Nikki: Dream Diary, announced today with an eight-minute trailer as well.

There aren’t many details about the upcoming title beyond the fact that it simply exists, but there’s a countdown website online right now that you can watch tick down to zero on Jan. 25. Then, it’s safe to say we’ll hear a whole lot more about the project, hopefully where it might fall in the Yume Nikki mythos and what all we might be able to expect from the decadent weirdness that permeated the original game.

The eight-minute trailer isn’t helpful either, though it’s plenty of weird footage that doesn’t really tell you, well, anything. If you like rotating patterns and wasting time, you can sit out the whole trailer, but your day could be better spent playing the original game, which is now available on Steam.
