How to beat Normal Forme Deoxys in Pokémon Go – Weaknesses, counters, tactics

It won't be available forever.

Deoxys is among the legendary Pokémon in Pokémon Go that you can encounter when participating in exclusive five-star raids. These won’t always be available. When they are, developer Niantic will be sure to inform everyone of when these raids are going on and how long they will be available. Because it’s a five-star raid, you want to bring at least five other trainers to take it down, and having more with you doesn’t hurt. You need to bring your best Pokémon to counter Deoxys to make it to the end of the raid to capture it.

Deoxys weaknesses

Deoxys is purely a Psychic-type Pokémon, making it vulnerable to Bug, Dark, and Ghost-type attacks. You want to avoid using any Fighting or Poison-type Pokémon as many of its attacks will devastate them.

Pokémon counters to Deoxys

You have several options for Pokémon you can bring out against Deoxys. Some of your best choices include Hydreigon, Mewtwo, and Chandelure.

Hydreigon is a Dark and Dragon-type Pokémon. It’s a powerful choice, and it’s one of the more rare options for you to go with when attempting to take down Deoxys. Not many trainers may have them in their roster. It has a maximum CP of 3,625, an attack of 256, a defense of 188, and a stamina of 211, meaning it has hefty defenses and an incredible attack, making it a great first choice Pokémon. You want yours to know bite and dark pulse to do the most damage against Deoxys.

With Mewtwo, you have to be a bit more niche because it’s as Psychic-type. While some of Deoxys’ Psychic-type attacks won’t be effective against Mewtwo, the same goes for you if your Pokémon has any Psychic-type moves. It has a maximum CP of 4,178, an attack of 300, a defense of 182, and a stamina of 214. It doesn’t have the best defensive capabilities. Although it makes up for this by making it resistant to Psychic-type attacks. You want to use this Pokémon if it knows psycho cut and shadow ball.

The final optimal choice you can use against Deoxys is Chandelure, the Ghost and FIre-type Pokémon. It has a maximum CP of 3,268, an attack of 271, defense of 182, and stamina of 155. It has the best moves possible as both a Ghost and Fire-type Pokémon, meaning both its fast and charge moves are capable of doing severe damage during a Deoxys raid, so having more than one of these in your roster is an excellent option. You want yours to know hex and shadow ball.

The other Pokémon you can use against Dexoys are Tyranitar, Darkrai, Gengar, Weavile, Honchkrow, Zekrom, Absol, Escavalier, Scizor, Houndoom, Reshiram, and Shiftry. Once you defeat Dexoys, you use Premier balls to catch it, and the number you receive is based on your performance, how many trainers on your friend’s list you had the fight, and if your team owned the gym the raid was happened at.
