Not everything is going to make sense in Death Stranding, and it’s okay if things don’t always seem entirely clear. For those who are new to Kojima games, you’re going to realize extremely quickly that this is what he likes to do. A valuable item you’re going to find in the world is Chiral Crystals, and they’re going to be extremely useful. They’re going to be extremely weird and odd, but you’re playing a Kojima game. It’s better to go along with it than to ask too many questions. Here’s how you go about finding them in the world.

How to Get Chiral Crystals in Death Stranding

These crystals are going to stand out to everyone. You’ll find them out in the middle of the world, sticking up from the ground, surrounded by a large, golden skeleton hand. Many players are not going to immediately know what to do with these crystals because walking up to them initially says you don’t have the proper equipment.

Luckily in Death Stranding, there’s an unskippable story mission called “Order No. 8. Collection: Chiral Crystals,” which is during Story Episode 2. Completing this particular story mission will provide players with adequate equipment to start harvesting these useful resources moving forward. You’ll spend the mission going through a quick tutorial of how to collect them. After they get collected, you have to take them to a recycling center in one of the larger cities to get them processed. Following the materials getting processed, you can grab the materials at any point by approaching a terminal and hitting the “Claim Materials” icon in your inventory.

You’re going to want to grab these resources often because they’re used to upgrade structures, create equipment and buildings, and they’re the fuel source for the Floating Carrier. Moving forward, you’re going to find them by scanning your immediate area. They’re going to pop up and get marked in-game. However, they only show up on your scanner when they’re within a 100-meter radius, so make sure you’re scanning areas often to discover all of them.

Good luck finding all of the Chiral Crystals in Death Stranding, players. They can be found all over the map, so don’t be shy about spending a little time off the beaten path to explore.
