We’re halfway through May, and MLB The Show 22 is here to celebrate. That means the start of a brand new Monthly Awards program. This one is for the month of May, and much like the April Monthly Awards Program, it’s filled with new challenges, rewards, and packs. And if you’re a Red Sox fan, this one should be an exciting one, to say the least. Users can not only claim a 94 OVR Lightning Legend card of Baseball Hall of Famer and Red Sox icon Jim Rice, but also the Lightning player for May 2022: Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers.
So, how can you get Rice, the 95 OVR Devers, and complete this program? Let’s go over the details, plus the rewards.
How to complete May Monthly Awards Program guide
The May Monthly Awards Program guide is split up into stages. This is quite similar to the one that went live in April.
In order to make progress in the stages, users must complete a number of Moments, Missions, and Collections. Since the May Monthly Awards players have not been added to the game, all that can be done at the moment is the Topps Now Weekly Moments that are added each week. As of 2022, these have been integrated into the Monthly Awards programs. Also, we should note that until those Monthly Awards players are added, users will not be able to move on to Stages 2 & 3.
Once the Monthly Awards players are added in June, this program will be updated with additional Moments, Missions, and Collections for all three Stages. These will most likely range from Moments with the Monthly Awards cards to completing collections and acquiring PXP Points with the Monthly Awards items.
Here’s a look at the tasks that need to be done, sorted by stage:
Stage 1
- Complete Topps Now Moments (2 pts. each – 26 Moments in total)
- Complete May Topps Now Collection (15 cards needed – 13 pts.)
Stage 2
- Complete May Monthly Awards Moments (3 pts. each – 11 Moments in total)
- Complete Required May Monthly Awards Collection (5 cards needed – 15 pts.)
- Complete Monthly Awards PXP Missions:
- 2,000 PXP with Topps Now cards in Ranked Seasons, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, or Conquest (10 pts.)
- 250 PXP with Monthly Awards Dansby Swanson in Ranked Seasons, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, or Conquest (3 pts.)
- 250 PXP with Monthly Awards Daulton Varsho in Ranked Seasons, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, or Conquest (3 pts.)
- 250 PXP with Monthly Awards Kole Calhoun in Ranked Seasons, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, or Conquest (3 pts.)
- 500 PXP with Monthly Awards Ryan Helsley in Ranked Seasons, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, or Conquest (3 pts.)
- 500 PXP with Monthly Awards Clay Holmes in Ranked Seasons, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, or Conquest (3 pts.)
- 500 PXP with Monthly Awards Tarik Skubal in Ranked Seasons, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, or Conquest (4 pts.)
- 250 PXP with Monthly Awards Pete Alonso in Ranked Seasons, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, or Conquest (4 pts.)
- 250 PXP with Monthly Awards Jose Altuve in Ranked Seasons, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, or Conquest (4 pts.)
- 350 PXP with Lightning Jim Rice in Ranked Seasons, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, or Conquest (6 pts.)
- 1,500 PXP with May Monthly Awards hitters in Ranked Seasons, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, or Conquest (15 pts.)
- 2,500 PXP with May Monthly Awards pitchers in Ranked Seasons, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, or Conquest (15 pts.)
Keep in mind that with the 15 pts. Monthly Awards missions, only players that can be obtained from the May program will yield progress towards the missions. Any Topps Now cards, though, will work towards the 2,000 PXP mission. You will only be able to make progress towards any of the missions listed above once Stage 1 is completed.

- Complete Monthly Awards PXP Missions:
- 500 PXP with Lightning Rafael Devers in Ranked Seasons, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, or Conquest (Repeatable – 10 pts.)
- 2,000 PXP with May Monthly Awards cards in Ranked Seasons, Battle Royale, Events, Play vs. CPU, Mini Seasons, or Conquest (Repeatable – 10 pts.)
