There are a lot of different pets we can choose from in The Sims 4; many kinds of cats and dogs that we can take in as our companions for life.
The best part about these pets, too, is that unlike real life, you can manipulate and control the age your pets so that you never have to worry about saying goodbye. The game allows you to age your pets up or down if you please, and doing so is actually a very easy thing to do.
There are two methods by which you can change the age of your pets, one of them with in-game items and the other using those wonderful things called cheats.
Using Treats
The first method of changing your pets’ age is to create treats for them in the game. To do this, you will need to get access to Dr. Magi-Heal’s Medicine Craft-o-Matic.
Despite it’s tongue-twisting name, the machine is pretty easy to find. You can find one in the vet clinic in Brindleton Bay, or you can also craft one of your own from the Hobbies section of the Buy mode.
If you want to craft a treat, your Sim will need to be at least level 6 in the Veterinarian skill. You can rank up to this level by using a Dr. Magi-Heal’s Medicine Craft-o-Matic and selecting the “Do Lab Work” option. Your Sim will then mess around with the machine and gain the skill.
Once you have reached level 6, you can go to the “Craft” section and go to “Treats”. From there, select if you want an “Age Up” treat or an “Age Down” one.
After the treat has been crafted, it will appear in your Sim’s inventory. Click on your pet and choose to give them the treat. The effects will take hold after a few seconds.
Cheats
The second method is to use cheats in the game.
To activate cheats, press Ctrl + Shift + C on PC, or hold down all four triggers on your controller for consoles. A textbox will appear in which you need to enter: “testingcheats true”.
In the same textbox, you will then enter: “cas.fulleditmode”. This will allow you to enter full edit mode. Now, just click on your pet and choose: “Modify in CAS”. This will bring your pet up in “Create A Sim”.
You can now enter any age you want, older or younger, to get the results you want. It’s as easy as that.
